I guess. The store doesn't smell funny any more, and very few things seems as 1-and-done/disposable than back in the day. I do remember 20+ years ago whether I was breathing in something I shouldn't...
Ours still has a significant woosh that hits you when the automatic doors open.

I own a little bit of Icon but overall I’d prefer just to get something at like an auto parts store or off the tool truck or at Lowes or Home Depot or something. Icon is ridiculously overpriced for what it is. And the sockets my coworkers have from them are all peeling chrome by now. I’ve not had that issue with any of my auto parts store tools or any other brand except Icon and Snap-on that’s why I don’t buy Snap-on chrome sockets either. Not bashing just saying from my experience they aren’t anything special. I had an Icon 1/2 long flex head ratchet I picked up at the pawn shop for $5 my coworker was in the market so I sold it to him for $10 and a Snap-on ratchet  . I have the Icon pick set had to replace that because they are weak. Icon ratcheting bit set I’m really happy with though that and the parrot jaw pliers. But everything else I’ll pass on. Plus anyone that’s followed my posts here knows I love buying individual sockets and that’s a turn off for me is not having them available. I probably wouldn’t buy them anyway but still. So it’s not for everyone.

Just picked up the Icon deep metric impacts in 3/8 on sale for $42 bucks. $2 more than Sunex (7-19mm) and cheaper than Grey Pneumatic, and come with a (hopefully) decent warranty. I also picked up some Sunex shallows. So for 60 bucks I have a full set and I can compare Sunex and Icon now. If anything breaks I can take them in and get a replacement. Icon also necks down their deep impacts like Grey. I know some people don't care about warranty, but for the same price or less (with coupon) seemed like a no brainier.

IF they offered the option of a good blow molded case like Grey or SUnex that would be cool too. Some of us like to take sockets on the go and rails are additional expense.

The back orders at Snap-On are insane. Over a year for a mini pry bar. WTF.
Not just Snap-On. Williams finally shipped me a 3/16 1/4” hex bit socket. It took seven months. I completely forgot I even ordered it. I have sockets sets that have been on backorder for two or three months. I’m tempted to just cancel them. Snap-On and its affiliates are so behind it’s not even funny.

wright too, I’ve been waiting 2 months for some random odds and ends from them, it seems the only one that doesn’t have a huge backlog right now is Proto, I’ve ordered a bunch of stuff from them lately and it all ships next day.

I've got ICON snap ring pliers, multispline extractors, and various other items- no issues so far. The extractors have saved my **** a few times too

I haven't broken regular Pittsburgh impact sockets yet, so they're durable. A 3/4 breaker bar adapted to 1/2 with a 6' cheater pipe is a good test with 260lb on one end lol

Generally for hand tools or corded grinders I go to Harbor Freight. That only started after I bought 2 grinders on sale to test and they lasted way longer than anticipated

I've worked as a shop mechanic and not been particularly impressed with what comes off the trucks- ended up using my cheap Icon or Pittsburgh tool to finish the job after a name brand broke. Had the boss at that place buying Icon to replace broken tools when I left

Now I do onsite repairs, so I really can't have tools breaking 3hrs from civilization. No worries using my tools, even the ones from HF

Maybe HF copied Snap-On a little too closely and saw that Snappys chrome fails, so that means Icons should too!

Gotta say I bought a set of the metric 15° offset ratcheting wrench set on a discount and they have been my go to wrenches since. No chrome peeling, switch works fine, they just feel very comfortable. Their 3/8 impact extension set has held up fine, even gets along with my cornwell and snap on sockets!
