Any quality Garden Hose Reels?

I've invested in premium rubber and vinyl garden hoses after going through the cheap ones many times. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a good quality garden hose real that survives with these heavier hoses even if the hoses are empty. I only need to put 100' of hose on the reel, but have more that I'd love to put on if I can.

Anyone have a quality garden hose reel that is on wheels they would recommend? My water spigot is in my garage so the reel will be indoors until I need to use it.

The cheap plastic garden hose reels last only a couple of years for me so I'd prefer a metal one that isn't going to rust out.

Updated: I purchase the Eley hose reel cart after the glowing number of recommendations.

I've been getting those pocket hoses, they only last a year or two but whats great about them is storage, you just toss them in a small bucket when not in use, no fuss, no mess.

Yep second the eley stuff. I have the roll around cart, outside year around and it looks and works like brand new. Not cheap but really well made.

Yup - went thru the same issues as they were all cr**, then I found the above at a garage sale, like new for $3.00, best $3.00 I ever spent. PO was selling it for her boss and he said just get what you can for it, I never even tried to haggle over the price when she said $3.00.

It's funny you say that because that is exactly what I did before going with some better hoses. I've had bad luck with them splitting - likely from rubbing across the concrete or across the brick if I'm not careful. I did like the no mess and clutter aspect of them.

I am a fan of Coxreels. I have their air hose reel in the shop at work, and it is fantastic. No complaints.

x2 for Coxreels. I have a couple of their air hose reels and just did another reel for water. They sell an adapter hose that converts from garden hose bib to 1/2" NPT.

I see they have a cart version in all aluminum and 10yr warranty. Thanks for the suggestion.

Commercial quality. Hoses and quick connects are great as well.

I've been using their stuff for years after getting tired of dealing with all of those cheapie Home Depot, Lowes reels, hoses and connectors failed year after year.

Just a thought, but could you just add a hose spigot closer to where you need it? 1" black poly tube is about $75 for 300 feet depending on where you get it, and is easy to run underground if your running it outside somewhere.

I understand! I deliberated over it for a long time and probably waited on one for close to a year before I could stomach the cost. Now I feel foolish because that's a whole year I wouldn't have had to suffer without a decent hose reel.

I'm an advocate of buying once so perhaps I can sleep on this for a day or so and then make the purchase. Part of me is hoping I get a coupon code because I left an item in my open cart :)

I have had one of the hose reels/carts from Rapid Reel (now eley) to hold my 100ft craftsman rubber hose since 1999. It has sat outside for the past 18 years in eastern Pa, still works great. Just had to replace the craftman rubber hose this past year though. I wouldn't think twice about buying one for Eley. My mother inlaw went through about 5 hose reels before she finally bought one fron Eley.

This is going to sound strange, but it's true.

I know someone who has had five of these for around ten years, and they all still work perfectly, every single time you use them:

It seems the design has changed, and Suncast either bought them out or provided competition. Regardless, the things just keep going.

I bought a Jackson metal hose reel on wheels, a couple of years ago, think I paid around $80. Worst $80 I ever spent, was a pile of rust within a year, never really worked right, awkward design and leaked non-stop. Just advising, stay away from the cheap metal hardware store reels.

I bit the bullet and purchase the Eley hose reel cart. They sent me a discount code since I left the item in my cart a few days. That was enough for me to make the plunge.

I appreciate everyone's recommendation. Glad to see many recommend this particular one.

I got this one last spring from Princess Auto. It's proven very durable over less than one year. :lol_hitti

I made a modification where the hose connects so it's not stressed so much. Everything there that's brass I added:

Eley, don't question the price its worth every penny. Nothing better out there. You get what you pay for. Buy once or have regrets later

Thread bump & hijack...

Any ideas on how to store hoses you're not using? Just extra, laying around hoses?

I have two Eleys, and they are amazing. Built like a tank. I will probably add a couple more as I slowly upgrade my active hose storage around the house. But I use them for hoses that actually hang on the walls, and get used all the time.

I also have (and imagine most of you do, too) lots of extra hoses. 25', 50', 100', various quality, colors, thicknesses, yada yada. Don't need them most of the time, until you do. :wtf:

Any good ideas on how to store them? I've got wall space, both indoor & outdoor, that I could use, but looking for something more "organized" than just a bunch of reels. Or coiling them on the ground.

Thanks!

This year I bought one of those nice steel hose reel carts from Menards with the pneumatic tires. SO much better than any of those plastic hose reels or the plastic box things. Also, I bought two 50' Flexzilla for it. Absolutely love it.

As far as the above comment I'd just get some non-active hangers to put them on.
