Ideas on storing inactive hoses... well you could do what I do and just chuck 'em in the woods behind the shed. Find 'em when you need 'em. LOL. Not really.

One way is to manually coil them and put them in a cut-off plastic drum or barrel. Another is a spare hose reel if you got one. Another is to bolt an old tire rim to the garage wall and just hang them up there.

I don't have an Eley reel yet but I will as soon as I can scare up the spare change.

You too! And I thought I was the only one who keeps them in "the hose pile".

In the summer, I have to be careful getting one, as it seems to be a snake resort. In the winter... well who needs a hose in the winter? :eyecrazy:

Again another vote for Eley, Have 2 of them. 1 has the extension to hold more hose. They work awesome. Had mine 2 years now.

?

What are you referring to? Hose reels? Have you ever had an Eley?

Any more ideas on storing inactive hoses?

Was about to say the same thing. If he owned an Eley he wouldn't make that statement.

I have two of them. One in the front of the house and one in the rear. The one in the rear of the house was their 4 wheel cart model. I didn't need the cart part anymore so I called them and they told me exactly what I needed to buy to convert it to the wall mount. I think it was $25 worth of stuff... not expensive.

That unit is at LEAST 6 years old. Been outside every day of it's life. Sun, rain, snow...etc. Shows zero wear. Still performs perfectly. The one on the front of the house is at least 3 years old. This one gets hammered by the sun all day. Zero issues.

I DO like their newer design of the side brass pipe that connects the unit to the hose. Mine is a spring type of a design where the new design is solid brass pipe... When or if the time comes to replace that part I will but the newer updated brass pipe.

Without a doubt I would never buy another hose reel again after owning these two. In fact if we ever move I am taking both of them with us to the new house. My neighbors buy the $30 POS at the big box store every other year... When I tell them to just buy a Eley they tell me it's way too expensive. I don't think they grasp the concept of buying it once and being done with it, compared to buying a ************* every other year... Oh well.

I believe the majority of the Eley is made/constructed in the USA but I believe there are some foreign parts. I can't remember 100%.

Oh China, That puts a bad taste in my mouth. I bought a "Yard Butler " SRWM-180 wall mount unit from Amazon in 2012 Price was 85. Bucks. After two years use, the Inlet hose fitting rusted away, Used a short of High pressure hose to repair it and it is still good. Probably Chinese junk. I Think I will go with a ELEY when I need a new one.
