I’m running an Echo Plus and TP Link switches. Super easy to set up and because the hub is built into the Echo, no extra steps.

less points of entry I can give a hacker the happier we are. If you get the right combination of 0's and 1's you can do anything to a remote piece of equipment hooked to the Internet. Software developers give themselves back doors too. And, wait until your refrigerator decides it isn't viable cost wise to repair itself, and it orders a replacement.

I didn't read the thread. With that said, I've spent about $1200 on smart switches (insteon and zwave) in my current house and have saved ~$5000 in electric service bill over the 5 years since I did. Monthly bill went from ~$140 to ~$55

I have rules to shut off all non security lights at 2AM. To shut off security lights ~10 minutes after sun up, etc.

I can tell Alexa to do it for me if I don't wanna wait.

Wouldn't change a thing.
