just wondering if anyone has ever mounted a compressor to just some 4"x4" pieces of wood and not legged them to the concrete floor and have been trouble free with vibration?

Some 1/4" thick medium soft rubber under the corners of wood makes a world of difference, then a a small room to almost make it quiet so you can talk normal near it.

I mounted my compressor on 3 hockey pucks (hard rubber). Doesn't move at all, very stable.

Mine, a horizontal, just 'sits' on the floor, bolted to a couple of short 2x4s. Was once on some carpet for noise reduction, but it kept walking away while running. I might, some day, stick some rubber under it, but I'm not in a hurry since it doesn't cause any problems, and I don't want it any higher than it is now (it is under a workbench where there is limited space above it.)

Sounds like I did what a few others have done. I cut down the pallet it came on to be the same footprint as the compressor (an upright). That way, it doesn't take up any more room that it needs to. Made sure the contols and oil drain are pointed into the garage as opposed to the wall. No problems for over 10 years, now.

The few times I've had to move it, like to change out the regulator/dryer that's on the wall behind it, I just 'walked' the pallet away from the walls. I'll do it again if'n I need to.

BTW, keeping it on a pallet spaces it from the wall the correct amount for clearance, access and air flow.

Plenty of people leave their compressor on the pallet its delivered on

Or even a step further. Mine is on the pallet....which is on a set of snowmobile dollies. No, this is not permanent, but the compressor is situated in the ver last portion of the shop to be sheated and painted. Should be coming off the dollies in the next week or so.

My Eaton is on the concrete with no bolts. I intended to bolt it down, it's been a year and it hasn't gone anywhere, so I probably will do nothing.

I have 3 layers of rubber and 2 layers of wood on mine, and it's not screwed down to the floor, so it's movable.

Like others mine is sitting on the pallet it came on. No problems at all and keeps it up out of the moisture from the concrete.

Old mudflaps would work great as Joe69 says. Or cut 4 squares out of an old tire. A long as you have something under it instead of metal to concrete, the compressor will not move. Even 4 pieces of indoor/outdoor carpet will work just fine

Big plastic spacers for my 15 amp compressor. I had the same spacers on my 15 amp that I sold, minus the spacers.
The 25 amp was still on the pallet it had shipped on when I got it used.

Thats how mine is mounted. used 3, 6'' 4 x 4's. This raised mine up enough that I could put a real ball valve on the bootom. Got rid of that stupid pet **** thing. This also raised the a/c up high enoug that I can roll my floor jack under the compressor. Now they both take up the same floor space.
