Mine also arrived and they're beefier than expected. Its almost like they took the 8s and just made the handles short. Now I want a pair of the 548s hah.

In my humble opinion, ChannelLock terminal crimpers are the best for everyday use. We do a lot of controls wiring and I have tried nearly all crimpers on the market. The unique part is that the insulated terminal jaw is ahead of the non-insulated jaw. That helps avoid cutting anything that don't need cut, with the front cutters. Most of the Klein Tools crimpers I have owned/operated have that in reverse. Since I use mostly insulated terminals, this makes crimping easier and safer. I just recently upgraded to the Code Blue composite-handle ones and have attached a photo of both models..

Look what came today!
How are the tips on yours, are they square? Are they the same size?

I received my set. While I know CL are hand finished, the tips on mine aren't even close to ground square or the same size. Not going to make much difference in use, but still, it's not even close. I guess mine were ground on a Monday morning.

Other than that, they feel solid and the teeth are sharp and the cutter works well.

Those look like ***. Channellock will warranty them for workmanship. I had a set of 386 bent nose pliers that looked like they were finished by Helen Keller. Channellock took them back and gave me an acceptable replacement pair. Took about two weeks to get them swapped.

Edit: Looked at my notes and I had to return them on my own dime. Might not be worth the effort.

Yeah, those are my thoughts. If I got them at a store then I'd exchange them, but then I would have noticed it there in the store. These only appear to be available from CL direct. I have no doubt they'd exchange them if I mailed them in, but it doesn't seem worth the effort.

They'll still work for what I need them for, but sadly this may limit future CL purchases unless I can see them first hand.

A little comparison between a NOS pair of 546 and the recent run. Notice the wire cutter. Also tips are maybe sligntly better on the new pair.

Even though I said I didn't need them, I couldn't help myself and ordered a pair of 546's. Mine have the same misalignment and if it weren't for Garage Journal, wouldn't have noticed it. I don't care and am not going to do anything about it, they will grab stuff just the same as the other set I don't use.

I've been making an effort to use mine (546), and they've been great. I actually like them more than my leatherman pliers (just barely), and I carry them and a SAK now instead. I've gone full circle I guess. If leatherman made a multitool that had chunky jaws like the 546 it would be so much more useful.

Bought my first pair of channellocks at the flea market. gave like 2 bucks for em. Since then that is a all I buy. Got my linesman pliers from my buddys dad who owns a pawn shop.

EDIT. Does anyone know if channelocks have a warranty. Had small pair of tongue and groove pliers break on me.

According to their web page, the warranty is to the original owner.

My niece inherited my late brother's truck, and in a picture she sent me of his box of tools, I noticed a neglected Channellock fence tool:

I asked her to send it to me for restoration. Looking forward to that.
