Anyone else like Channellocks?

A few weeks ago I posted in a thread concerning "binge" tool buying. During the last couple months, I've been on a Channellock kick that I think has subsided for the moment. For years, prior to my recent "BHB" (Blue Handled Binge), I owned only two Channellock tools, the #442 (far left) and the #415 (second from left). Then, this past Spring, I actually needed the #911 cable cutters (third from right) and bought them. For some reason, shortly after that, I went on a small BHB and added the #422 (third from left), the #410 (fourth from left), the #369 (fourth from right), the #357 (second from right) and the #337 (far right). I'm still feeling compelled to buy a pair of needle nose pliers too.

I'm not sure why I bought all of these..... I certainly did not need any of them beyond buying the #911. The last five tools were purely impulse, binge, purchases!!! It's definitely a sickness. Anyway, I've included a photo for you Channellock fans, that clearly proves my recent insanity!!

I like channel locks. Try twisting something with another brand next to Channellock and you will notice a big difference. For the price and quality Channel lock brings a huge value.

Living in OZ is channellock racing NASCAR ? ( we race Supercars here Camero and Mustangs , watch out for Shane Van Gisberg coming to NASCAR in 24 ( a kiwi freak on the track ) One of the big name teams have given him a seat trackhouse ?

Does anyone own a pair of these and have a spare pair of these handles they want to part with? Did the 3147/ 3148 ever get to production ? And when did they stop selling the superior handles ? ( mid 80s for legal reasons? )

eBay purchase from this summer, 3 lb. Channellock sledge hammer. Just cleaned up the face a little as it arrived with some minor surface rust.

Don, I keep one of those in a kitchen drawer for opening stubborn jars of jam and marmalade and anything else of that size. After measuring a few jar lids, I chose the 9-inch model (1.75 to 3 inch opening).

Those filter pliers have a wide range of uses. Those 209's and their big brothers are a must have for me.

I have knocked a few of these boards up for friends, the hooks can be adjusted to suit what you want on your board , the colour match came up good the most expensive item was the sticker .

Yesterday was a dream come true! I was able to get a tour of the Channellock office and factory in Meadville. I got to meet members of the DeArment family and several employees. I have always had a special connection to their tools, but seeing them made is truly special. Everyone takes a lot of pride in what they do. They even have pliers themed artwork on the walls, the last two pictures are wooden sculptures that were carved.

Wow, interesting that both halves are forged in the same die. I would have thought all upper or lower jaws, just to make the trimming easier. Shows how little I know of steel work. Thanks for sharing.

I have them in large and small in the original packets and they used those grips with a added guard on the 3248 plier between 92-95 and then changed to a softer compound handle. ( I have a few pairs still in packet ) but I fully agree they were a great grip . Regards

The 3248 ? They are currently the best selling plier in the country ! ( I have only seen up to ten tools hold that best seller spot for over 20 years and the 3248 is one of them. And channellock grips have become a staple for most tradesman except the plumbers) I have shown the original trial pair on the left given to me to evaluate in 92 a pair with the Acetate grips in the middle and the softer compound PVC grips far right.
