Our recycle bins are small ~16"high x ~16" wide x ~24" long red red plastic bins. I didn't realize they vary across the country :dunno:

id hate to say this folks, for needle nose, the best pair hands down is the klein yellow handle. not the pair thats available at home depot(with the stripping hole), but the large size with side cutter only. best needle nose ever.

Maybe so. I've never used the Kleins, but I can say that the Channellock model #318 is a worthy choice too. They're heavy duty with cutters and crimping jaws. I'm just sayin'.......

Most of my slip joints are old Utica 511 series. I like the narrow nose on them to get into tight places. A few weeks ago I picked up a pair of Channellock 548's. The nose is slightly narrower than the Utica's. I'll be on the lookout for 546's and 5410's now as well. ;)

No kidding.?
Check my Utica 511's next to the Channellocks.
Wierd .
Edit: Ah never mind. I think I know what you mean. I just put them on their sides and the Channelocks are narrower that way .
All the more reason to have both. :)

Canadians - I found places like Canadian Tire, or Princess Auto only have limited selections of blue goodness. In fact, I was looking for some bent long nose (386) but they don't seem popular enough for brick & mortar stores to carry them.

Any suggestions or do I turn online (or conjure up a business trip to see my boss in the US)?

Hey Outlander,

You know, we have some of the same problems here in the States. Most of the big box stores around here carry the basics. Some of the Channellock tools I would consider to be more specialized, like the #386, aren't normally stocked. I've gone to my local Home Depot looking for a few less common Channellocks but had no luck. The management was more than happy to order them for me. I didn't go that route because I like to hold them before I buy them. Then there's this tool store that's pretty close to my place of employment, and they carry just about everything, including the full line of Channellock tools. The problem is that there are no breaks on the prices. They charge top dollar plus a little extra because they have what you want right there hanging on the hooks. On a few occasions, I've paid the price in that place! I couldn't resist. I was there, I had them in my hands...... You know how that goes! So, I guess the answer may not be a visit to the USA, but rather logging onto the Channellock site and ordering them online, unless you can find a store near you with a better selection.

I'm in the same boat and I've basically succumbed to ordering them online. Picked up a few pairs from Harry Epsteins and the rest have come from ebay. I've looked in the HD's and Lowes in the US and can't find much beyond what's available in Canadian chain stores.

If you are ever in Michigan check Production Tool Supply. I bought mine there. They do have a website http://www.pts-tools.com/cgi/CGP2HOME.
I am not sure if they sell online or ship to Canada. The one local to me in Cleveland is great. They even had some NOS USA made vise grips.

Princess Auto has a 3 pack of Irwin bent for about $40 bucks that I picked up. Love them.

I just found another pair of 430's in the middle of the road on the way home. :lol_hitti No joke. Will post pics in a few.

Here is mine, some are a little rough from use.

Nice  When did the make green handles? Or is that just faded blue?

EDIT: Pics, after cleanup by wire wheel and alcohol on the rubber. Great working condition, jaws like new. I actually saw the orange handle cutters, Italian made, first on the side of the road, pulled over to pick them up and a few feet over I saw the ubiquitous blue handles. Walked around for a few seconds nothing else.

Added pics, please see above. It's kinda funny; a month ago I didn't have any channellock 430's or 420's. Now I have 3x430 and 2x420. Bought one pair of 430 and 420 for $2ea at a gargesale. Since then I have found the others for $0. Recycle bin, side of the road. :lol_hitti I must have done something right, but now wish I could find something besides 430's, but I really shouldn't complain :dunno:

Thanks. I just wish the Irwin trade in was still going on at Lowes. I could swap them for a nice new pair of china made Irwin pliers.

:spit:
JK of course. In all seriousness at this rate, me thinks someone will be receiving a pair of 430's for Christmas this year.

Not a fan of CL's. The finish is great but the ergonomics IMO seem lacking. I like more material on the handles of my pliers. I have really large hands so for me , more cushion allows for a tighter grip.

dang nine4....i just don't know why you need so many duplicates.

Hold on, really? This coming from the guy that bought an entire box of hammers? :lol_hitti

SG works great for cleaning grim off of soft grips.

So does rubbing alcohol, doesn't harm the material and is cheaper. I've had simple green hard soft polymers before so I'm kinda hesitant to use it for much. Plus the alcohol sanatized what ever germs the PO may have had.

After that picture I really want to send you a wire wheel and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. :lol_hitti

Could you throw some extra time in that package plzkthnx :lol_hitti

I don't comprehend your statement :headscrat :bounce:j/k, I don't really need that many duplicates, I would rather find different models each time but for the price, I can't be too picky. I will probably keep 2-3 each of the main sizes and trade off the others.

because!
and this pic is outdated.

and this^

I need to pick up some SG, I'v been out for a while. I may try the alcohol since I have a big bottle here but what I usually use is WD-40 and a microfiber wash cloth.

lol. just razzin. I think I posted mine in this thread as well, but once again just in case. This is an old pic and has multiplied itself since. And I also have ground down some that were beat as to become smooth jaw.
