I love my 5410s they are my go to pliers for sure. Pliers are one thing I feel Snap on falls short on. I mean I love my SO neelnose and dykes, and other stuff. But just for an all around ordinary full size pliers they really have nothing I like. The 5410s are awesome on many different things.

Channelock makes some good stuff and actually they make most of Mac Tools high end pliers (the ones with the dark red handles not the elcheapo ones that come in the big promo sets). For the money they are great but if you want the best of the best Knipex is it.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Good quality, etc...? It appears to be made by Channellock but comes from China.

I'm thinking of getting it just to store my Channellocks in as my collection is growing by the day! I hope to post some more photos soon once everything arrives! :rocker:

Consider it the equivalent of a Craftsman box. It is not manufactured by Channellock. Anything with the Channellock brand name manufactured in China is licensed out, and not "real" Channellock stuff.

I haven't seen one in person (it's sold through "Do-It-Best" stores/franchises), and I don't believe there's a middle box, but there's been enough information scattered around to suggest that it's likely the same manufacturer and grade as something like this:

http://www.sears.com/26-in-13-drawe...009CO56572812B?prdNo=2&blockNo=2&blockType=G2

I absolutely LOVE the color, but keep in mind the internal dimensions.

External dimensions of that box are something like 26" wide, 12" deep.

That's going to translate to 24" max by 10" max. They are NOT all that big of drawers.

Has anyone tried their new E-series needle nose pliers yet? Looks like they added pliers type teeth to them. Might come in really handy trying to remove stubborn wire nuts and such.

I really like that color, but as others mentioned I don't think they are the best of quality, even maybe a step down from the basic craftsman box. :dunno:

Where do you get the Channellock in bags like that?

Really old NOS, at least, the stuff I recently purchased in said bags was.

So like ebay or possibly other online places like amazon or Epstines? How old are we talking that they stopped doing that?

At least 10-15 years old?

The only place I see that style of packaging any longer is independent industrial supply or hardware stores, and it's usually pretty dusty.

I got a big pair of slip joints at a mom n pop about a year and a half ago. They were clear plastic carded and the insert was dated 1996.

I got both the 8" and 6" E-series pliers and like them. Just a FYI about ordering these online, make sure they are fresh stock as when they first released these pliers, the early ones did not have half moon pliers teeth just forward of the cutter.

Thanks Jim! Believe it or not, I have used a few of them! Hopefully my 4 year old son will appreciate these one day. Still debating on buying the Channellock toolbox to put them in!

I'd never seen the box before this thread. It's definitely pretty cool. With a collection full of NOS, still in the pouch Channellocks, you're almost obligated to buy a dedicated box to store them in. I hate to put any undue pressure on you, but it's really your duty, as an obvious Channellock enthusiast to buy the box. Please post more pictures after the box is in your possession.

I carry a pair of 420's at work everyday, they're great for opening and breaking down Arca bins and installing/removing tri-*************. They're good for removing/installing drain baskets from floor drains also.

I like channel locks to, you cant beat em in any way I don't like the way the SO pliers get spots and stains on the steel finish it makes them look real cheap in my opinion I believe if you pay top shelf price for something it should look as well as it performs for a serious amount of time.

Channel Lock groove joint pliers were the go to tool for all mechanics and plant workers back in the day. Management would replace any damaged Channel Lock brand free of charge no questions asked. Still my "go to" plier brand 40 yrs later.

Arrrrrgggg! You guys are driving me crazy. I have a real bad addiction to Channellock pliers. When I see them on sale, I just have to have them. I worked as an industrial truck mechanic for 32 years, and only had Channellock pliers. I never had to replace any of them. When I pass from this life, my wife will cuss me when she has to go through my tools.

You have to admit, your new top box would look pretty cool sitting on that bottom box.
