Hey Dennis,
Great looking collection of Channellocks, and I like the "wall of tools." I've also been thinking about adding a pair of 388s to my collection.

LOL!!! I missed the grenade the first time...![]()
Nice setup and collection, Dennis!
Spring for the Ideal 429's. They are quite a bit better, and yes I own both.
whats better about the 429?
Dennis, I have one NOS pair of mini pliers still in the card, I can check the part number for you tonight.
I must have 12-18 pair of Channellock pliers, most made before blue grips were the norm. I am not real fond of anything except their pump style pliers, I think there are much better cutters and needle nose pliers available.
Cope,
what needle nose pliers doe you like better than Channellocks?
John
Snap on, Matco, Klein to name a few. I don't particularly like the shape. It's just a personal thing
I'm not a welder, but I hear their welding pliers are the best of the best.
Jeff, thanks a million.. got the 43's today (sorry, couldn't wait to get the out of the card and with the collection..) Added E318 last week..

I agree. I think Channellock shines in almost any plier by needle nose. Their specialty ones, signature style ones, and even lineman's pliers are top notch. They haven't seemed to nail down the needle nose though. I'm not a welder, but I hear their welding pliers are the best of the best.
GHASP !!
But ....... But ........... taking it out of the package ruins it's collector's value !

User first, collector second....![]()
I have them, the jaws are great for 6 point fasteners, and this is the jaw style that irwins groovelock pliers use. If you notice the channels do not extend to both sides of the slot, as apposed to the regular 440 type which have the channels on both sides.
My channellock drawer.

Here's mine. Old picture, though. There's actually more now.
