all the sets, are incomplete, and, im too lazy when i get home to do research.
+, i'm not really pursuing the chinese items, and, not really the cushion grip style.
as this photo shows, most likely pratt reed, pre ideal. the handle is identical to a klein, including the shapes of the handle's flutes.
and, fwiw, the new USA style, must be made by ideal/ pratt reed. the shanks of a 1/4x4 and the 'hang' tag are identical to masterforce, which definitely is ideal pratt reed.

was at a quiky lube yesterday, noticed they had (4) black chinese code blues.......... was itching to make a trade, except, i had nothing to offer.
next time, i'll be sure to throw some surplus drivers in the buggy

I like the plastic for users, but like the old markings, particularly Champion DeArment, for cool factor.

I've never broken a pair but I've had a pair with a broken upper tip for many years. Came that way from the FM/Yardsale...

I'd like to see the broken pair to see where they failed.

pair of 430's been thru the battles. held hot/cold stuff. everything.
i was above a ceiling, removing a 3/4 ****** out of a valve. connection was already 'broke' with pipe wrenches. really, not alot of force on the channeys.
only thing that saved falling off the ladder was a ceiling wire 'spear' that got me in the shoulder. that phuckin hurt.
anyhoo, pliers are consumables. replaced, no thought of warranty.

Hey metaldad,

That's one GREAT collection of vintage Channellock stuff!!!! Thanks for taking the time to drag it all out, photograph it, and then post it. The photos are a nice reference guide too. I like seeing the real deal and not just photos from a catalog, etc. Outstanding post!!!

Very cool! Don't know if I shared my mini plier collection that lives at my bench, but here it is:

I never pay more than $2 for any of mine. If they are rusted, I just do the vinegar soak and cold blue.

Those 910-C's are my favorite locking grip. I bought a pair new back in the day. There is an adjustment for how hard they grip. the clip looking thing on the bottom arm slides and determines the tension. set hard they GRIP!

best of all it can be one handed use!

I can't tell you how many times I got soothing with the tips of those and it saved me a ton of hassle.

The ONLY weak point is the plastic cap is easily damaged/broken; so don't throw them around! I had to glue mine back together, then I wrapped it in 30 ga. steel wire and coated that with nail polish to keep it in place. the first wrap lasted >20 years and I'm on the second re-wrap...

I figure this is probably the best thread for this,

Does anyone have the 758 Flush Cut Diagonal Cutters? if you do, are they true flush cut? (cut the tail off a tywrap, any exposed corners left to snag your finger?). Trying to find something that is a true flush cut to replace a well worn out pair of unknown flush cutters I have used for years. Seems most cutters I've recently tried out leave a millimeter or two sitting proud after a cut.

^^^^ I have a pair and they do cut flush. Great for cutting zip ties which is what I use them for the most.

I have owned Channelocks for many years, but they definitively went down hill when they decided to rivet their pliers rather than retaining the adjustable nut. That was in '72 as I recall.

I have to say that I like Channellocks but I strangely prefer the Craftsman USA pliers over just about anything else (other than Knipex).
