Anyone else like Channellocks?

I picked up the new E357 end cutter. I took a side by side picture with the older model to compare. So far I like them much more than the 357. They are lighter which is a bonus if you want to carry them in a tool belt. They definitely cut a lot better, I was pulling a siding nail to test them out and it sheared it right off, which was a difficult task with the other pair. The 357 would cut a nail only if you squeezed really hard and re gripped multiple times. I'll have to loosen my grip if I only want to pull the nail.

I guess I’m not sure what you’re looking for. Do you want one screw driver, or do you want the plastic jar for a collection/collectible, or a plastic jar that’s full of screwdrivers? For some reason I think I’ve seen these before. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen these screwdrivers in the plastic jar at my local Home Depot. They’ve usually been on the checkout/cash register counter. Maybe I’ll stop by there this weekend and take a look.

Try-Value hardware close to me has the most extensive wall of Channy’s I’ve seen. They may be a source for a single pocket screwdriver.

I have noticed with channellock there socket sets are made in Taiwan,if they were made in the USA I would of got one.

Also how do the Channellock socket sets compare to Gearwrench? Both are made in Taiwan and about the same price (after discounts on the Gearwrench). I was going to order a Gearwrench set when I saw the above post about Channellock socket sets.

Just had a look at the channellock gear and it comes with lifetime warranty so that’s a bonus might get some of there ratcheting spanners.

I have got some gearwrench tools and the quality is outstanding,channellock looks ok,price is cheap.

Advance Auto Parts always has Gearwrench stuff for really good prices. After discount the Gearwrench socket set is actually few dollars cheaper than the Channellocks. Set is more complete in sizes too iirc.

Quality wise I don't know anything about the Channellocks though.

Knipex, sure. But dollars, to donuts I'd take the channellocks. Well, I'll take both...

I'll keep my opinions of Klein to myself. Haha.



I use Snap-on needle nose, and side cutters with great effect. I think it is a value issue, really.

All I know is that I cut a padlock with a pair of Klein dykes by placing the handles in a vise. I think they loved it and I still use them.

I bet these make a great compliment (won't go as far as to say replacement, but those that don't have any may get by with this in some cases) to a Knipex pliers wrench.

Not the best price ever but there is a $0.44 coupon at amazon now came to $14.** after tax for me.

I found the image on toolbarn's instagram, comparo of knipex, wiha, and channellock. The wiha's are a new edition too.

From what I can tell, the channellock is your typical tongue & groove plier, wiha is an auto slide, knipex is push to set

Picked up a pair of channellock 317 needle nose pliers, tip of the pliers was cut at angle kinda like this > \ , all of them on the shelf were like that, also the amount of area that was cross hatched was so little, disappointed and returned them

I googled CL, #1 was ‘class’, 13 was Craig’s List, and 21 is Chlorine... ChannelLock isn’t in the top 100..........

I love my Channellocks. For some reason I just can't get used to the Knipex Cobras - I always just go back to grabbing my Channellocks. I bought a whole bunch of different Channellock tools recently - the quality is good, the price is fair and they are made here in the USA by American workers.

The only change i'd like to see is them offering maybe a comfort grip Blue like their plasisol handles for ALL tools, the red and blue throws me off - too weird of a color combo to me.

btw, my older sets of blue drivers............ coupla were turning white. cleaned all with mineral spirits and 3 coats of glosss urethane spray. damn! they look better than new
