Sorry if this bothers anyone in the Channellock thread. If it does, please remove it. Here are some examples of what I’ve done to old tools to make them more comfortable daily users and to two new Tekton 90 tooth ratchets before the comfort grips came out. I do have a soft spot some old Utica pliers but like my Klein and Channellocks more. A little bit of heat shrink and cleaning can take a 50 cent or $1 flea market find and turn it into a gem.
Are you using standard or glue lined (Rachem) heat shrink

Standard hit it with a heat gun shrink wrap. Score it with a utility knife if you don’t like it heat shrink and peel it off. Had no idea they made heat shrink with glue. That must be some serious stuff.
It is its for cable joins suitable for underground joints , you joint the cable with a compression link and put 2 layers over it . Cost is not cheap ,if your using it professionally the off cuts are great for tools . I will get you a photo cheers

Also good for automotive and equipment repairs, keeps salt water out of the joint, which is a real problem for those of us in the salt belt.

Hi I have added a photo the inner wall is lined with a epoxy resin like araldite that releases when heated and creates a water tight. Seal

Hahaha...our kitchen junkdrawer has a pair of 422s for opening stubborn bottle caps and a 7" pair of Klein needle nose for opening vacuum packed foods. Wife says they work fine!
my Channellocks are all in the garage. I do however have an assortment of no-name pliers in a kitchen drawer to handle certain tasks in the kitchen when they arise. I have some slip joint pliers that I use to grab the pizza pan when I pull it out of the oven. Sometimes it gets a little stuck and I need a firm grip.

This was $1 at the local ReStore, and clerk at the register looked like she thought they were overcharging me at that. Still, I'm delighted to restore a 442 to good working order.

Hate to think how it got the way it looked in the "before" pic. Unfortunately, the blue handles had to come off as they had several cracks and I could see rust under them.
I am positively green with envy.

Anybody know of channellock ever made a 462 curved jaw?
I've been using Channellocks for 28 years and have never seen any. However, and this is borderline blasphemy, I needed a pair a month or so back. Harbor Freights Doyle brand is identical to Channellock in every aspect except handle color. I bought a pair that would be 462's. I also bought a version of the 480's since I only had one set of the originals.

That thing looked so decrepit that I understood the reason for the low price — I mean, just look at the before photo. It's such a mess you can't read the make or model number for all the rust and crud.

If somebody knew the CL line in detail — which would not be me — you might make a pretty good guess as to what model it was. But all I knew at the time was — well, here's some kind of Channellock in bad need of a clean up. It's still the only 442 I have.

I'm curious what the Channellock aficionados on here know about this small pair of box joint long nose pliers that are marked as Made in Germany? I've had them for several years and love them but also find them a curiosity. I'm assuming they where rebranded by Channellock.
