I never said I liked them, in fact I hate them too.
Rather than untwisting them I just cut the damn things off.
I seems like the body is disconnected from the spring when you try to untwist them.

I've started using Gorilla wire nuts and I'll be damned if they aren't the nicest things ever. I've been using them wiring my shop and I can't believe I ever used old style, rigid wire nuts. I wish they weren't so stupid expensive but I still love em.

I can't stand those wire nuts lol. Especially when you need to remove them from stranded wire
Tip...Give the scotchlok body a quick squeeze along the wings with lineman pliers before you try to back-off the wirenut or keep light even pressure with your lineman pliers along the wings as you remove the wirenut.
