Dowidat = Gedore

i don't see a special value in the tools except for a owner of a classic car, but they are really particular about the condition too....

I would say: just use them.....

I am sure they will bring more in Europe than they will here. Some of our good Stanley wood working planes go cheap there compaired to our prices. A lot of rust in what I see. Not much value but classic.

usually the entire took kit is from the same tool company. Anything appear to have a Mercedes part number?

I have several vintage MB tools and they are all marked with the MB logo but no part numbers. There are several different German OEMs marked on these tools.

I've also had several VW and Porsche tool kits and all the tools are marked Hazet with DIN standard tool numbers.

I don't think there is any single pattern of tools for German cars.

Also, all the tools found in VW, Porsche, and MB cars appeared to be of less than premium quality... these were not fancy tools, some were bare steel, some painted, and some satin plated.

if there is a part number it would tell which chassis range it belongs to. I know for a fact it is not from anything younger than '80+. I'd like to guess 50's to 60's. It's not from a 190SL, thats for sure.

I see these tools all the time at the swap meet. Initially I picked them up because they were Mercedez Benz. I don't bother with them now. As Lauver states above, and is so clearly indicated in the photos, they aren't top quality.

Now, if they were the motorist's tool roll for a 1959 300SL Gull Wing, you might have something there!

The tools can be restored, but the key thing is which car they came out of and if they are all the correct tools for that roll.

I can still buy NOS tool rolls with tools for my car from Mercedes Benz, it's an '87 300D but I know they have them.

Much less than you might expect.

People restoring a car want tools in perfect condition.
Everything else is just a regular used tool.

Not necessarily - if a particular tool is hard to find they're desirable in any condition. For instance, I drive an old BMW; they came with nice tool kits built into the trunk lid, and most of them had two screwdrivers with green handles. However, some cars came with red handled screwdrivers, and they are highly prized - I've seen them sell for $75 or more. My green handles work just fine so I'm not concerned.

i have a complete red handle set from a mid 80's L7 :)

i personally never got into the old tool pouch deal. however, the older mercedes wrenches seemed to be the thinnest of the group. i have a few i bent "L" shaped for certain jobs. also some of them came w/ nice double box wrenches that are tool box daily use worthy.
