I was just wondering. Since I am so new to this board, are there any of you who don't have a garage yet at all- and who are getting ideas from this website to build one? Mine isn't all that much and I have been getting fantastic ideas to improve mine. Thanks to all of you great people. But I was wondering, how many people on here don't have your garage built yet and are still getting ideas?

You are not alone. I live in an apartment. Right now I am collecting my tools and making plans for a future garage. I find plenty of good ideas here. Of course, I've been sharing some of those ideas with my dad for his garage too.

In a way, yes. No garage of my own. The family shares a huge pole barn shop which my Dad built at his place. My brother took over that property when he passed on since I already had a house / land of my own. All big jobs go to the barn and we have a decent setup of tools / supplies, but I still do quite a bit at my place for various reasons. Working more like the proverbial shade tree mechanic. I have storage buildings for tools and lots of space, just waiting for the right time to build the garage. Anything requiring more than either of those 2 options will support just gets taken to work where I have even more resources.

Not since 2009. I had to build an 8x12 shed just to keep my lawn care stuff outside instead of in my basement. I have lots of great ideas for when I do have one though!

I'm renting a very small garage that's barely big enough to fit a compact car in, but I'm planning to buy a house (with a garage or barn) in 2014.

No garage here either! I have a 10x12 shed that I set up as a mini shop. I hope to one day have a garage. In the mean time I find lots of cool stuff on here to help me organize what I have and use in the my future garage.

I do not have a garage of my own right now. I currently rent a house that has 2 small single car garages just large enough to hold my cars, no work space. I have a realtor searching for me and I look at houses every week, but have not found something that I want to purchase yet.

no garage here, my "shop" is in the basement. it has a ramp into it and a previous owner kept a vw down there. the garage door has been replaced by a wall with a mandoor. still gotta do alot of work outside, but i do have a bench and a bicycle "lift", most of my work involves bicycles so it works out ok. i do plan to get a lathe this year, and a mill later on. im learning to weld now. my boy and i call it the "monster basement".

No garage yet, I have a 10x15 shed for the lawn equipment and other various items. The basement is currently used for the workshop. Considering a 24x32 detached building with 10 ft. walls.

I dont have a garage, just my shop that is 40X135X14 and a couple of sheds to park under.
(I've noticed that some people call a building a shed, but around here a shed is just a roof on supports, sometimes 4 legs, sometimes 2 legs and the other side attached to a building)

None at present although I am in the midst of building a 28x38x12 attached garage/workshop. Just waiting for concrete floor and then I can begin the build.

Got mine planned, just need final quote from builder and a bit more cash. May end up doing most of it myself/with friends as I think the builder costs will be too high for my meagre means.

I got out of the Marines in '91 and we bought our house in 2000. I spent nine years without a garage, I know what some of you guys are going through. It's taken me the last 13 years to get it where it is today and I'm still working on it and looking for new ideas.

No garage, just a carport at home where according to the rules I am not "supposed" to do vehicle repairs. But I do have a 10 X 30 lock up workshop in a commercial property. It is cheap and comes with included water and electric, which makes it really cheap. I have it set up mostly for wood projects but I also have my welder and a "Dirty" bench there and I can officially work on my car and motorcycle over there.

i don't have a garage, don't even have a carport. the cars stay outside in the heat, cold, rain. Now I have a 36x40 shop, but that no way, a garage. a garage is where you keep your car dry , with dry wall and fancy stripes that serve no purpose. I have a SHOP. welding cutting grinding grease oil sawdust on plain concrete slab, no yuppy epoxy for me. I have a man bldg, no ceramic tile on these floors. the bathroom is the bush

No garage right now. We live in an apartment. I have enough tools to fill a garage, though. Hopefully some day real soon.

When we built our house 4 years ago a garage did not make the budget. As they were
building the house I built a 22' x 22' pole shed/barn to house all the outside stuff -- toys,
garden tractors, and tools and junk. No heat, no lights. Nice lookin' little barn with a
small loft, but the cars stay outside. I'm currently building an addition on the barn to
hold the garbage cans and recycling bins. '***** and squirrels have chewed through
even the hard plastic cans.

The shed/barn is packed to the gills, making it impossible to actually do any work in
there. One day a full on garage w/workshop will happen . . . I've got the plans!

i've been garageless in the past, lived in apartments, and duplexes, and stayed with relatives.

i carried tools home from work to build engines for my flattrack ATC's on the coffee table when i lived in a duplex, stored tools and boxes at my moms place, at work, and at our race shop for a long, long time.

bought my 2nd ( and LAST house) 8 years ago, and finally have most of my tools, and equipment in one place.

Was garage less until a couple of weeks ago. Well it is full of carpet, furniture and hardwood so I don't have use of it yet!

A carriage barn, but there hasn't been a horse in it for a century. I'm told a previous owner used to park his Model T there, and I vaguely recall our '49 Ford in it for a short time, but otherwise the space is too valuable to use as a garage.

Had a garage when I joined, moved into apartment with girlfriend, hate it! I have a old old barn I use for some projects but mostly storing the goodies like my trailer, snow blade, 4 wheeler, and motorcycle. Its only 4 miles away so its not so bad, but not completely weather proof, no electricity, so no tools or mainly anything that could rust stored in it.

My mom has a detached garage at her home where I work on the weekends sometimes, but I live in an apartment... I do all of my car work on the side of the street if it's a quick job.

Yes, I have never owned a garage. When we built our home in 1999 money was tight, and still is, and thought we will wait two or three years and then add on the garage, well its been 13 years now since we've been here now and still no garage. My gravel driveway is my garage, I would guess.

I have a 2-car garage attached to the house but it's been full since we moved in 15 years ago so there was no working in there. We did get a lot of it cleaned out a few months ago so now it's my motorcycle garage. But we're saving for a move soon to 4 acres 12 miles from town. THEN I'll have the shop I have wanted for 35 years. That's how I found this place... looking for ideas.

No garage for me, I'm only 19 and live at home. I keep all my tools in my truck box and basement. I joined the site with hopes of figuring out what I want in a garage when the time comes

The house I lived in prior to this one had neither a garage nor driveway. Working on my junk was tough. But... My boss did let me keep my big box in one of the buildings at work, so I could do stuff up there, on concrete, in the shade, with access to compressed air, torch, plasma, etc.. Fortunately, their expanding operations into that building coincided with my moving into my current house, with a 2 car garage and carport.
