I got these in with some other tools I bought and can't recall seeing a design like this before, with the thin, wide nose. The manufacturer mark has worn off, so not sure where to start. Do these look familiar to anyone?
Never seen linesman pliers with a spring handle. They are likely regular lineman pliers that had the tips reshaped by the previous owner. Most of the visible nicks on the plier tips are use related and likely hapened after the main modification was made. I make lots of custom use pliers out of used garage sale plier finds. If I do a good job reshaping and finishing them, once the pliers wear and age a bit on the newly exposed metal surfaces they look store bought.
Dig your username.Looks like they would work well for taking small bends out of the edge of sheet metal panels.
I too have seen these before , thought maybe made by challenger/proto but some searching turned up nada. will bother me for a while I am sure. Some kind of duck bill combination pliers. Seem to be factory-made to my eye. I swear I've seen pliers like that before, but I couldn't tell you where. Looks like they would be handy for electrical wiring and terminals. Might also be useful for hose clamps.
