I’ll be quite honest, without the 20% coupon I haven’t been to Harbor Freight now for over a month. I used to go weekly for different things. I also purchased quite a few Icon tools when they had the rarely seen Icon coupons. I’m not interested in becoming an ITC member, so I just stopped going.

My wife also stopped shopping at Hobby Lobby for the same reason. They did away with the 40% coupon and apparently alternate weeks that things are on sale. She found it annoying and has been shopping at Michaels and online. You can buy whatever you want on the internet, so if there’s no incentive to get me into your store, why should we leave home?

99% of my tools are now bought online.
100% of our groceries... online.
Household items... 75% online.
Bought her RAV4 online.
Medication... online mail order.
Pet food/supplies... chewy.com
Clothing... mostly online at Kohl’s or JCP.

Coupons motivated me to get in the car and go to the store, look around and buy something.

ShopYourWay was one of the many reasons I own so many Craftsman tools. Sears provided me with an incentive to go to Sears and buy *** loads of stuff because the points made it a bargain. Lowe’s/Stanley basically hijacked Sears Craftsman prices and now sell their version of Craftsman at full blown retail without offering any real sales or deals... at least not enough to motivate me to visit their stores and buy something. Home Depot does a better job with sales on Husky than Lowe’s does with Craftsman.

was just looking into this and found this thread
same here
IDK why Harbor Freight stopped with the coupons. That was kind of their thing. Part of the reputation they were known for.

Now they still do them, but not really. It's more of a "Here, waste a lot of time digging through the coupon list, only to find them applicable to other things you don't need but not what you're looking for. And don't worry, the thing you're looking for might go on sale in a month. But not right now when you actually need it."

I just got ITC membership to access a coupon in which the price drop seems to "pay for itself" (picked 1 year)
but still.
Used to be always that 20% barcode every month.
Was looking at Icon hand tools, particularly the screwdriver and hose pick sets to compete with Snap On) but there's nothing for them.

they are pushing the ITC hard. I got it because it saved me $40 on one item so it paid for itself right there. Also they have some items for $50 to 100 off for ITC which is how they get people and say it pays for itself on one item when before everyone could use those coupons. It would be like if amazon did Prime for everyone than changed it to membership like it is. People would be furious and all pissed off but it's always been a membership so it is normal. HBF changed it and pissed lots of people off

I think the Inside Track Club is worth it but that’s just my opinion. My parents bought me one last year for Christmas and it’s saved me a ton especially on power tools. I used to use Harbor Freight coupons on their rubber gloves but now their gloves are so out of my price range I don’t buy them anymore. As a professional mechanic I have lots of Harbor Freight stuff the Icon picks I got for a great price and the Earthquake power ratchet too. I sure do miss the 20% coupons but members get tons of inside deals that regular people don’t get.

Yeah I just hate they don't give away free tape measures and stuff everytime I would go in anymore. Atleast I have a ton of them I've been hoarding for years. Lol

Seems like they’re opening a new store about every five minutes so maybe they’re counting on new business, to make up for the number of jilted lover‘s that are no longer going there. Because of freebies and coupons

I recently purchased usable rotary hammer for 75 bucks.

Maybe I could’ve done better elsewhere, but my time is valuable.

I took my better half to a Hobby Lobby about an hour from where we reside. She truly needed to look at it being a crafter. Exceptionally frustrated in what we found. We think that it is difficult to accept that not many items are made in the USA. This Store is only a Walmart for interest's . How pleasant of them to keep so many Chinese individuals utilized. I'm a resigned exchanges individual and my significant other a crafter who had a place with a society. We both found throughout the long term that individuals wouldn't fret paying more for quality. Most items in this store where tweet since they where garbage.
Americans want bargains on everything.

if they were paying Americans $15-18 an hour to make that **** “better quality” (for craft materials )would people be happy paying maybe 3-4 times as much for something to just make a holiday centerpiece?

They usually say they would, but they won’t

Americans are much more into "stuff" than anywhere else I've been (and I've been all over). It's the reason we're the biggest economy because we consume so much stuff. The supply-chain shortages everyone is so rustled about aren't as much about supply at this point (with a few exceptions) as a LOT of demand in the US for stuff at the moment. Most countries aren't like that, but do have the same MiC cheapo stuff if they do want it, even in places where there's a very-strong preference for domestically-made products. (I doubt the Germans who buy the mainstream Bosch dishwashers are very happy that they're all made in New Bern, NC USA 🤣).

I guess my point is if those places got as "stuff" oriented as we seem to be, I doubt it would be filled by domestically-produced products either (for the most part).
