I’ll be quite honest, without the 20% coupon I haven’t been to Harbor Freight now for over a month. I used to go weekly for different things. I also purchased quite a few Icon tools when they had the rarely seen Icon coupons. I’m not interested in becoming an ITC member, so I just stopped going.
My wife also stopped shopping at Hobby Lobby for the same reason. They did away with the 40% coupon and apparently alternate weeks that things are on sale. She found it annoying and has been shopping at Michaels and online. You can buy whatever you want on the internet, so if there’s no incentive to get me into your store, why should we leave home?
99% of my tools are now bought online.
100% of our groceries... online.
Household items... 75% online.
Bought her RAV4 online.
Medication... online mail order.
Pet food/supplies... chewy.com
Clothing... mostly online at Kohl’s or JCP.
Coupons motivated me to get in the car and go to the store, look around and buy something.
ShopYourWay was one of the many reasons I own so many Craftsman tools. Sears provided me with an incentive to go to Sears and buy *** loads of stuff because the points made it a bargain. Lowe’s/Stanley basically hijacked Sears Craftsman prices and now sell their version of Craftsman at full blown retail without offering any real sales or deals... at least not enough to motivate me to visit their stores and buy something. Home Depot does a better job with sales on Husky than Lowe’s does with Craftsman.
This was posted buy the Tool Bear and I thought it summed things up pretty good.

Americans want bargains on everything.I took my better half to a Hobby Lobby about an hour from where we reside. She truly needed to look at it being a crafter. Exceptionally frustrated in what we found. We think that it is difficult to accept that not many items are made in the USA. This Store is only a Walmart for interest's . How pleasant of them to keep so many Chinese individuals utilized. I'm a resigned exchanges individual and my significant other a crafter who had a place with a society. We both found throughout the long term that individuals wouldn't fret paying more for quality. Most items in this store where tweet since they where garbage.
Americans are much more into "stuff" than anywhere else I've been (and I've been all over). It's the reason we're the biggest economy because we consume so much stuff. The supply-chain shortages everyone is so rustled about aren't as much about supply at this point (with a few exceptions) as a LOT of demand in the US for stuff at the moment. Most countries aren't like that, but do have the same MiC cheapo stuff if they do want it, even in places where there's a very-strong preference for domestically-made products. (I doubt the Germans who buy the mainstream Bosch dishwashers are very happy that they're all made in New Bern, NC USAAmericans want bargains on everything.
if they were paying Americans $15-18 an hour to make that **** “better quality” (for craft materials)would people be happy paying maybe 3-4 times as much for something to just make a holiday centerpiece?
They usually say they would, but they won’t
