Seen a few different things online. Are they gone completely? Is it just no more US General?

The everyday 20% off one item & free item w/ any purchase ones are history. They may still have them during holidays & stuff like that.

They pushing ITC memberships it looks like. Since the 20%s disappeared, they had a 10% off anything (no exclusions) & it was 20% for ITC members. And I used the 30% off $10 & less items. Was good to see they still doing those. I won't be buying the ITC membership though.

If you have Android phone you can download an app called HFCoupons that people upload HF coupons to, coupons come from wherever people find them, in the catalogs, random newspaper ads, off the website, etc. I still find the 20% off coupons on there along with quite a few others. But there is a drastic decrease in what used to be. No more freebie coupons, not even half the super coupons they used to have, hell not even half of the coupons they used to have in general. And I havent gotten an HF catalog/coupon book in the mail in months. Anyways, back to the app, its a great app. They'll scan the barcode for the coupon right off your phone screen or they'll type in the code. Has a little cart function where you can place all the coupons you plan to use at the counter.

I know HF has been pushing to get some marketable brands under their roof for a while... Never figured they were aiming to end the coupons. I think thats one hell of a bad move on their part. Coupons were one of the biggest reasons to shop there. They better really step up their game to some USA made tools to stay on the radar if they're looking to get away from the bargain pricing game.

I have been seeing a lot more ITC coupons on there. Not enough to make up for what they used to have by any means. And I dang sure dont shop there enough to pay them $30 a year or whatever it is to join it.

edit: Well, I just went & checked and it doesnt appear that the 20% off is on there at the moment. Weird, I just used one last time I was in there a week or two ago. Anyways, if you dont have android, I just saw that the creator of the app made a website as well.. Not nearly as polished as the app, but the coupons are there. Wonder how those "No Expiration" coupons are gonna fair now? here is the site: http://hfcoupons.com/

This no expiration $5 off any Pittsburgh Pro Ratchet coupon is a gem they cant really cancel, I dont think:

Meh, who cares? Believe me, they were adding in the cost of the coupons and freebies to the other products to make up for it. It was shrinkage like shoplifting basically. And a lot of bottom feeders were taking advantage of it. I've seen tons of eBay and CL ads selling 20 HF flashlights, 5x8 tarps, 12 packs of AA's, etc..

The move to more quality tools is refreshing. If someone's working on their own stuff or for customers, they should be buying better quality tools.

Yes, it looks like they are really pushing the ITC club for the discounts. As said above they just had a weekend of 10% for anyone, which I used, and 20% for ITC members. I’ve been sitting on the fence about joining. One year at $30 gets you a $10 gift card if you sign up on line and that takes it down to $20.

I bought the itc and got a $10 gift card and save over $20 on what I bought. Sort of like a Sam's club card. How many free pairs of scissors do people need anyhow?

Wait until you plan on $100 or more purchase and then join ITC and you'll pretty much break even and then have it on future purchases.

There can't always be a coupon. Would guess Memorial Day, July 4th, etc. will see the return of the 20%, etc.

The automatic coupons are useful and the itc has good stuff. I'd rather have the "free" items be a dollar and buy several at that price. I'm happy at that, and the coupon automatically applies (the tarps for example are 97 cents now with the instant savings)

Eh.... I signed up for the ITC today. At $20 after the $10 gift card it’s running less than $2 month.

I'm hoping they bring them back after seeing a dip in sales. Like anything in the business it's all about the money. That was the big reason to shop there for many items. I worked there for a year and a half ending last year, and didn't see this coming at all.

The ITC thing makes more sense if you are doing something like working on outfitting a new garage/shop... I joined back up in December when I ordered my new tool box and saved at least $50 on that just from ITC, went the other day and got two supports for using a 2 post lift and saved $20 each, thinking of getting one of the oil drain tanks for on a lift since they're $30 off right now... This new automatically getting the discount is much nicer than having to have the ITC coupons... last time I signed up I didn't get any of the ITC books in the mail and barely got emails about them so it was a waste and annoying...

I go back and forth, I sign up when it's a wash to get when I buy something bigger...

I was down to only buying nitrile gloves and tarps there. They haven't had gloves in stock since Covid started and I neen a tarp maybe every 5 years...never bothered with coupons after I saw the quality of the free flashlights and screwdrivers.

The value to coupons was the 20% (rarely 25%) off of the handful of good items they have.

I'm actually just asking so I can keep track of true prices in case I buy something used, like a toolbox or bike lift. I like to know what a good deal is since half the people selling that stuff are asking twice the new cost.

I have an email from them this morning with that coupon. I've gotten a few in the past month or so. Maybe they're rethinking their strategy a bit.

Could be or maybe it’s just part of the plan

Put the shoppers on “coupon withdraw” making them believe the end of the world is near.

Then toss out a few good coupons, Shoppers storm the stores buying up **** to they neither need nor want, just because they have a coupon.

Genius, actually.

The 30% off cheap items are pretty useful IMO. Cut off disks, sandpaper, the Thunderbolt batteries are pretty decent too in my opinion.

I bought a 44", two 26", and a 5 drawer cart. After that, I think I satisfied my Harbor Freight itch. I'll buy a wrench organizer (its US made actually and only $12), but I lusted after the tool chests for a long time and I think I would just go in to look and would wind up buying stuff because I was there. Been in twice now and have yet to buy anything. It felt strange walking out empty handed.

Project Farm showed those batteries are actually pretty terrible. Maybe for cheap lights or something that you'll use frequently and be accustomed to changing.

I bought 26 items (some in clearance) with the 30% off anything under $20, being an itc member. I figured just 5 if the items would be discounted since that's what the coupon says, but all 26 items were 30% off

Yes. If you go to the Harbor Freight Coupon database there is a 20% off any Vulcan accessory. The Vulcan cart is pretty nice for the money. I got one for my Hobart 210.

I rarely shop at HF, recently only to buy tarps with a 20% off coupon. Between the ending of the coupon and the dismal quality that their tarps have reached I switched to billboard tarps and hadn't been to HF in 8-9 months. Saturday I needed a long 6mm hex bit ball end socket to get to a particularly hard to reach socket head screw. No one had what I needed in stock except HF and I had to buy a set as they have eliminated the individual pieces. It seems I spent 2 extra minutes at the cashier who kept spewing the benefits of joining ITC. Multiply 2 minutes by the number of customers on a Saturday morning and it's easy to see why there are long lines at HF. At least the tool worked and I got the bolt out.

I used one off my HF coupon App this weekend for the 5 drawer roll around cart.

I'm still getting new coupons every month on it. It also shows the "monthly flier."

I downloaded one for HF tools, but it is not as good as the coupon app.

I’ll be quite honest, without the 20% coupon I haven’t been to Harbor Freight now for over a month. I used to go weekly for different things. I also purchased quite a few Icon tools when they had the rarely seen Icon coupons. I’m not interested in becoming an ITC member, so I just stopped going.

My wife also stopped shopping at Hobby Lobby for the same reason. They did away with the 40% coupon and apparently alternate weeks that things are on sale. She found it annoying and has been shopping at Michaels and online. You can buy whatever you want on the internet, so if there’s no incentive to get me into your store, why should we leave home?

99% of my tools are now bought online.
100% of our groceries... online.
Household items... 75% online.
Bought her RAV4 online.
Medication... online mail order.
Pet food/supplies... chewy.com
Clothing... mostly online at Kohl’s or JCP.

Coupons motivated me to get in the car and go to the store, look around and buy something.

ShopYourWay was one of the many reasons I own so many Craftsman tools. Sears provided me with an incentive to go to Sears and buy *** loads of stuff because the points made it a bargain. Lowe’s/Stanley basically hijacked Sears Craftsman prices and now sell their version of Craftsman at full blown retail without offering any real sales or deals... at least not enough to motivate me to visit their stores and buy something. Home Depot does a better job with sales on Husky than Lowe’s does with Craftsman.
