This has been a frustration for years... just this morning I was cleaning the bathroom and after I was done was going to spray the shower and tub with a bleach solution to kill any remaining nasties. Spray bottle doesn't work. Are there any that last more than a month or so? What do professional cleaners use?

I've had good luck with with these Zep professional bottles. I can usually find them locally for closer to $3 each
Agreed, I buy Zep bottles that are specifically made for bleach, and other strong substances.

They are 32oz, " bleach resistant sprayer " ZUPR02 is the part number, I get them at Menards, guessing $6 ?

I run clorox cleanup in them, as well as purple power and similar cleaners. Purple power is really hard on spray equipment.

That's the latest one to fail on me. Or does Zep make different kinds? I probably bought them at either HD or Lowe's.

I always used the grey SprayMaster 32 oz. Spray Bottle

I've used those as well and they consistently fail after a couple uses also.

What am I doing wrong? Salvaged Windex sprayers seem to last longer. But that's so wasteful as I don't use that much Windex.

I don't know if there are any. At work, I used to buy industrial spray bottles by the case from a janitorial supply company. They had a lifetime guarantee. After I returned a few cases of broken bottles, they told me that they would not replace any more bottles.

I've had bad luck with those "professional" Zep ones. We had like 8 of em at work, purchased at different times, every single one of them stopped spraying within a few months, & some em filled with just water.

We switched to these HD ones. None have failed yet but I did have one that was bad from the start, exchanged it & all was good. We use em with bleach, soap, isopropyl, emulsified oil.

At home I have one of these Zep bottles. I guess the internals must be different than their other ones cause it hasn't failed me yet. Filled with emulsified oil (coolant).

I use the Wurth ones (a bit spendy) but they are indestructible, I have one for penetrant oil, one for brake cleaner and another for water and dish soap (for locating leaks) had them for years, fill em up, pump up some pressure and hose it down. You can even buy repair kits for them with new seals (but I've never had an issue).

If I had to transfer any of my mechanic skills to housekeeping (unlikely but you never know), I would definately carry them over into my new trade 😉

I might give the Mrs some for Christmas as a joke gift that she will come to appreciate come to think of it 🤣

I'll try the HD ones, looks like I can get those. My local HD has those, but not the Zep "chemical sprayer". Hoodathunk that a "HDX" product would be superior? Not me...

I got the black Zep from HD. At my local HD I remember it wasn't that easy to find, it wasn't next to all the other spray bottles. I forget where but they were on one of those cardboard displays in the middle of an aisle.

There's 2 kinds of black ones. The one I have is 32oz, the bottle is shorter & wider than the yellow/blue Zep, says High Output Chemical Sprayer on it.

The other one is 48oz & is taller. I think only sold at Lowes & not HD. The bottle says Industrial Sprayer on it. Not sure if the spray head is the same or different.

Yeah the HDX ones surprised me. I got them mainly cause they are wide mouth & easier to fill. Surprisingly they've lasted for me. But they changed em, the trigger is shaped a bit differently now. Not sure if that means anything but that one that I got that was bad brand new had the new style trigger. But I got 2 other ones with the new style trigger & they'e been holding up fine. I'd say pick one up & see if they hold up for you, they're cheaper than the Zeps too. Trigger spring is a bit stiffer on them though compared to the Zeps so if you need to do a lot of spraying one of those pump pressurizing sprayers might be better (we use those too). I'll never buy those yellow/blue Zeps again, they're garbage.

HD had a 3pk of ZEP spray bottles for $8. Pretty handy for diluted bleach, Round Up, etc. I still flush out the sprayer in the garage sink with H2O to prevent a clog after use when the bottle is empty or before a refill

I've been using some from rural king. Some have had mineral spirits, WD and the like for a few years.
Lately though, the ones in the store don't look like the same quality. Typical rural king. They **** anymore.

I used to use zep bottles everyday but they'd stop working after a week to a month. Currently using Stihl weed sprayer bottles with the pump for compression from a tractor parts store and they last a month but can be taken apart and fixed usually. Have 2 broken ones and 2 that still work after 6 years or so.

Also worth noting, I use them with an alcohol based greasing agent so my usage may be a bit more abuse than any are rated for.

Yeah, for 1-2 gallon jobs (like coil cleaning) I use a B&G stainless sprayer. Once in a while the weird plunger/closure device they use cruds up, but I'm not complaining. I use citrus cleaner or HD evap cleaner (with potassium hydroxide) and only have to worry about changing the check valve occasionally.

The hand-held quart sprayers generally are trash. Even the supposed HD ones. We'll see how the Harris ones do.

Unlike others, I've had good luck using the Zep spray bottles with the blue writing. I have several with different concoctions in them. PB Blaster, Acetone, vinegar, mineral spirits, a mixture of WD-40 and Marvel Mystery Oil, soapy water, and maybe more that I can't think of. As far as bleach in the bathroom, I just keep refilling a Clorox spray bottle from a couple of years ago with about a 4:1 water/bleach mix.

I have a heck of a time getting spray bottles to prime - I've found that removing the strainer at the bottom of the tube helps.
What I do is turn the nozzle to the closed position. If it has an adjustable spray nozzle I screw it down all the way. For the nozzles that don't fully seal when screwed down I'll cover the hole with a finger. Pump repeatedly, then open the nozzle, that usually gets them primed for me.

so I bought a "HDX" bottle over the weekend, obviously it worked the once, we will see if it lasts. My local HD also had a "VPC" brand spray bottle which I haven't seen before and next to the Zep ones they now have a Zep "bleach resistant" spray bottle which I guess is a tacit admission that the regular ones will fail after a couple uses with bleach...

The best spray bottles (by far) I ever bought from local stores were from Rural King. I now learned from this thread that they are actually these Zep bottles that folks are mentioning, but re-branded on the bottle as a Rural King brand. We keep various fluids in them like isopropyl alcohol, but we use a diluted solution for the dedicated bleach bottle, so I don't know how they'd fare in the long run at full strength.

I also scoped out the scene at Home depot and in addition to the regular zep bottles, they had the Zep industrial bottle and the Zep chemical resistant bottle, both of which appear to have identical sprayers, just different bottles.

In addition, the had the VPC bottles as mentioned by the poster above but to me the sprayer part seemed a little more flimsy.

Finally, they had one I've never seen before by a company called "Spraymaster". It's chemical resistant and the sprayer mechanism seemed pretty beefy so I picked one up to try out. Made in USA also.

I've tried those as well, they haven't lasted any longer than the Zep ones for me. I want to say I got those at Lowe's. So now I'm trying the HDX ones, if those don't work I will move on to some of the other suggestions.

I buy these when they are available at BJs they are super good what every professional janitor engineers uses. Not sure where they source them, Bjs is where I find them sometimes. “Delta Spray bottles” pack of 3 for like $15 better than any of them listed so far in this thread.

They sell those Spraymasters at HD & were talked about in this thread. Well at least they look the same. I have never tried them myself cause I heard of people saying they're not much better than other "chemical resistant" sprayers sold in stores.

Not too sure, I have tried a lot of the sprayer from HD/Lowes, didn't stand up well after x amount of squeeze... the ZEP wide mouth one was horrible at spraying a bit heavier oil like chemical disinfectant even dilute in water. freaking trigger broke. during use, I think 2nd bottle refill and it broke...

As far as if the HDX brand is OEM of them or not , not sure how the market is... I usually buy the pack of 3 from BJs.. $10 or $15... they last longer and mist better. But they have the word delta on them. All plastic mechanical things break, but somethings I just expect to last a bit longer... ZEP is out for me. bsides that if you ever see your cleaning lady (professional janitor engineers ) at the office, that is the bottle they used.

I use the Zep spray bottles every day at work with all sort of chemicals and they work perfectly fine. Have ran thinner, alcohol and even oil through them without issues. Worth paying a tiny bit more for a way better product. Also the thread on the spray head will fit many other bottles

Follow up: the "HDX" sprayer is still working but I don't like it because it only puts out a stream. I'd really like to spray the bleach solution over the tub/shower like I'm cleaning windows. After about a month, it takes 7-8 pumps to reprime after sitting since last weekend too. Guess I'll try the Harris one next.

I’ve had very good luck with the Sureshot line of Sprayers from Milwaukee sprayer and the Sprayers by the Vapor brand. These get charged with up to 200psi of air from your air compressor and then work like a typical spray can. The Vapor one does a strong thin concentrated stream. The Sureshot has an adjustable tip for everything from a very concentrated stream to a very fine mist.
