Not really... they're harder to source than you might think. I'll look around and see what I can find.
As far as 5/16-24 slotted round head machine screws go.. McMaster is out. MSC is out. Fastenal is out. Meh.
MSC has a metric truck load of 5/16-24 SHCS, if those are acceptable.

These are replacement fill "plugs" for my floor jacks. Never though this would become a problem! I searched the usual suspects first, and every other pretender on the net. I may relent and use the hex or star, but really want the slotted screw if possible.

I don't think they are standard enough to be in regular box stores, but you might be able to find them at a specialty fastener store in your area.

The Ace hardware down the street from me has a pretty good selection of screws and bolts in bulk, if you have one nearby I'd try there.
I've done a pretty fair search on line and been to 3 autoparts stores, 2 hardware, and 2 big box stores so far. Nothing even close. I'm really shocked. Seems such a simple screw! Thanks for the substitute ideas so far.

What kind of jack (manufacturer, year, ect)? Any chance it could be sourced straight from the OEM as a spare part?

I had problem finding a slot headed screw for a vintage yacht. I ended up taking hex head bolts turned and shaped them into round heads with a file on the lathe. Cut a slot with a slitting saw. Worked great.

I just did a search on Grainger, and they have no 5/16x24 fasteners!

Get the Phillips or star drive, braze in the hole and cut a slot, paint as needed and install.
THIS^^ You could use JB weld, easier than brazing.

Thanks for all the offers. We've sent an email to Nutty. All the other vendors offered have been contacted with "NO". Rounding a hex and slotting it was my thought as well, just didn't want the job. These are for obsoleted Walker jacks. I'll talk to Hiball. He's probably got a solution. Just seemed such a simple bolt need that should be standard at the local hdw.

These guys have them on stainless or brass on page 38 of thier catalog. On the next page or two there are steel threaded rivets in this size too that you might be able to rework.
