You mean steel flex conduit, correct?

It would depend on the diameter of the conduit.

Yes I know, I was thinking about 1" metal flex, not sure what code calls for on the number of conductors aloud in it.

When you say 14/3 with ground are you referring to a Romex (NM) style sheathed conductor? Or are these conductor single conductors like THHN? It makes a difference.

The way to figure this, because the are no diagrams, is go with (much) math involved "Chapter 9 - Tables".

For 1" Flex:

Suffice to say that the 3 cables need to be a little less than 3/8" each, in any dimension, to be below the 40% fill requirement for more than 2 cables

Why not just use THHN? NM-b will be a pain in FMC

OK. Thanks for the correction. I've been told numerous times and also I've seen other posts about "romex" not being allowed in conduit.

Yeah it drives me nuts when people say that. I dont know where that ever came from but its WRONG!

it's allowed in conduit but not in wet locations ie underground. you need to go to uf or some other wet rated cable for that. some people claim that heat is the issue but it makes little difference.

Yes a roto split.

Or in the larger sizes I use a hacksaw or porta band.

In the smaller sizes I "break it" a little longer than needed and use tin snips to cut the extra coils off.

It bends the armor so the wires are foced to the bottom and away from the cutting blade.
