Jim: i'm not positive about the lathe, but probably a Craftsman brand and maybe 50's or early 60's. the stand is worth that much so if the lathe works and you get the clamps too i'd say you got a deal.
the stand can also be used for Craftsman planers and i've even seen some table saws on that stand too.
Ok. Sounds doable. I have to admit, I know some things about wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers and some general all around hand tools, but when it comes to the big power tools like this, I have to plead ignorance. I've never had a lathe and have always wanted one. Looked a a Craftsman 1hp on the marketplace but after reading the reviews decided not to buy it.
So for $45 bucks, I'm willing to lose that much, since I'm experimenting. Who knows, maybe they'll take $35. Asking never hurts! JP
