Unfortunately, while we're making it for international customers and a modified version that performs a different function for a private label in the US - this item as it stands is *******. Too many toes being stepped on and out of my hands, no forecast on this one anymore.

The 65SL is my favorite light but the swivel ball has gotten so loose that it flops over. Is there anyway to tighten the swivel?

Yes, here are instructions. Much newer ones use a set screw from the side of this internal part to lock into place but work similarly.

I have 1745 pneumatic vacuum kit, is there a way to purchase a replacement hose and bag from you or a supplier? I know it's an older tool that's no longer offered but I love mine and would like to be able to use it again. Thanks astro

We've worked on one recently but have seen much more growth in the other lights we carry compared to flexible neck models thus far.

Personally I love my 65SL and it is a fantastic light for lighting up the whole work area but where it fails me is in the nooks and crannies. I find myself needing a small supplemental light from another angle because there's something obstructing the 65SL's light or whatever else. Under dash work is the worst for this where there's never any good magnetic mounting points around and illuminating your work area is a pain because either the light gets in the way of your hands, or your hands block the light and there's almost no space to fit regular lights in from any other angle... I'd love to have a few 30SL's (though maybe with an option for a longer neck) for those situations since they could potentially be snaked in from a completely different angle.

Oh and USB C + fast charging. Release updated versions with those features and I'll gladly rebuy my lights.

I saw a post on here recently for an add on for hub/rotor puller - it's a bridge/bracket/bar which bolts along the caliper bracket to allow pulling on knuckles with minimal other areas to push against. I figure you'd put the other leg of the puller against the tie-rod area?

Part number for that? Break any knuckles during testing?

Chris, I was using my hub puller kit today and saw on the instructions you sell a #78830CBA Caliper Bridge Brace Bar Assembly. I searched online and can't find it for sale anywhere. Do you know where I might be able to find one at?

Sure.
As it's classified as a "part" it's not universally stocked. But Astro can sell parts direct by calling in.
In your case just drop me a PM and i'll get you sorted.

I haven't needed to use the bridge yet.

For me the 65SL, 40 and 45L lights are awesome. The problem is the cars I work on has no exposed metal to attach to, all plastic especially in the fenderwell doing brakes, wheel bearings and suspension work. I hook it but it turns out a bit too far from my work point.

Recently used the big 78830 Drum and Rotor Puller to remove severely rusted stuck brake drums on my 67 Camaro.

These drums had resisted my every attempt before bringing this tool to bear.

Now I'm no mechanic but I attempted to make a video on the puller in use, hope it helps someone.

I really like the 30sl and 40sl lights. And so does my wife, she borrows my 40sl all the time to use in the house. I particularly like the 30sl because the gooseneck can reach everywhere at any angle. I got them for working on my vehicles, but I use them on every project, they pretty much go where I go. Thanks, Astro Team, for making great tools that work like they're supposed to work!

Normally its little stuff like civics and aveos, and I end up pulling the arms in super tight around where the backing plate surrounds the hub. Sounds like the bridge may help alleviate that, as it can bend up the backing plate.

Depending on the situation I may not even bother with the astro wheel bearing press. Some cars it seems the engineering team spent a few minutes making it gravy to use a bearing splitter and a press. Flat surfaces everywhere, etc. By the time I've got the axle out its pop out the ball joint and the tie rod and if to the press. Now if it's crusty, first choice is the astro to prevent disturbing anything.

I encounter the same issue with no metal to put the magnet on or nothing to hook on to.

I've run into that too. All aluminum body, frame and engine... I was able to use the wiper arms but yeah, it could definitely be an issue for a lot of jobs.

This week we came out with a extra HD suction cup worklight mount I designed that works on plastic fenders and glass, isn't going to work for all situations but can help in that regard.

Very nice!

Do you know who is carrying this yet?

Couldn't find it on Amazon, and the "BUY ONLINE" link on your page is the URL of the originating page itself. :(

Tool warehouses don't even have them yet. I pretty much told you guys when our largest customers learned of it :bounce:

Going to be a couple weeks I imagine
Should be pretty affordable

Hey Chris, any chance you guys have some 1/2” drive Nano hex impact socket sets in the pipeline? Not a whole heck of a lot of sub-3”/75mm long options out there.

Was really looking forward to this one.

What I REALLY want, and can't find anywhere, is so simple and you'd sell a million of them. Just an adapter that works with your ball joint press or BJP1 (I have both) that accepts 1/2" sockets. Super simple. All of a sudden you'd have a nice wide range of pushers for stuff like bearings and bushings.

Yeah, shoot me a PM w/ address. I have a bunch made (that would work w/ BJP1)

I'm scared of some of the 1/2" impacts these days:scared:

Although that’s not the answer I was hoping for, I suspected that to be the case, and I can’t say I blame you. Maybe a set without a warranty? ...I know, people would freak so probably never gonna happen. Main use for these would be for caliper bolts. A 1/2” impact setup - if it could fit - would be ideal. Less fuss and less impact tool overlap with a 1/2” vs. 3/8”.

Only options out there that I’ve found that aren’t discontinued or on their way to be discontinued are from Stahlwille (i.e. set # 96231501) and Gedore. They are perfect IMO but I’d be afraid to use them at the prices they go for [emoji1785] $250+

I don’t know, seems like a wide open opportunity for an alternative but perhaps one doesn’t exist for a reason [emoji2369]

I just used mine this past weekend to remove the rear rotors on my wife's Acadia. I had to bend the splash shield out of the way. I ended up needing the ebrake shoes and hardware as well because it was so rusty. The last time I did this job, I didn't have the tool and it was a monster pita to get the rotors off.

When will the international dealers have the item?

I am very willing to pay duty and overseas shipping to get a poor man's BJP1.

Hi Chris,

I purchased your Magnetic Spark Plug Socket Set# 94404.

I created a thread about them here: Spark Plug Comparo.

Why didn't your engineers design them similar in width as the class leading Japanese Ko-ken spark plug sockets?

I know the Astro's use internal magnets versus the Ko-ken use of brass clips.

However, your sockets (internal diameter "0.8635") are just as narrow as the Gearwrench (internal diameter "0.862").

Why did your product literature mention "increased access with minimal outside diameter..for tight cylinder head clearances" when in reality it's not a thin walled socket?

I am not trying to bomb your thread with negativity. I love the hand tools that I have purchased so far from your company. I just have buyer's remorse on this specific socket set.

I would appreciate your feedback.

Thanks,

Dave
