What's new for 2021 that you can share with the common folk?

Hi Chris,

I purchased your Magnetic Spark Plug Socket Set# 94404.

I created a thread about them here: Spark Plug Comparo.

In this case I believe its referencing the minimum and maximum in the ASME standard for the socket type, being made to the minimum and following that the whole length for the socket. If you took it as "Were smaller than [my favorite brand]" apologies, we have several brands we potentially manufacturer for and thus usually meet certain set standards which can sometimes limit "custom" design freedom in these categories.

I (like me personally who tries to swing these BOGO's which are a $ losing proposition) can only pull them off on brand new product I've been working on as a way to sort of get the ball rolling and get the word out.

On product that's no longer new it's harder for me to do anything like these as they aren't my babies anymore, especially on items that sell really well or we're even out of stock on.

Trying to help out a stranger on the internet.

This is one of the QD fittings from the master coolant pressure test kit. Are these fittings available anywhere to buy? Are they standard fittings in any industries?

Noticed the straight die grinders with quick lock / quiet operation, like the 206QL and 216QL haven't been made for a while but the right angle variants like the 205QL still is, can any reason be shared as to why the straight versions were discontinued and if we will ever see replacements?

Ran into an issue today with my astro exhaust pipe expander. I love this thing and have posted many times about it. But today I was doing some exhaust repairs on a vehicle with 2" OD tubing. Usually I'll buy a stick of tubing to slide in one side and expand the other side and call it good. Well the small expander jaws go up to 2" and the bigger expander jaws start at 2". So i used the small expander jaws and went as far as i could, but needed a little more. But the big expander jaws wouldn't fit. There is no overlap on the sizes. If the small went up to 2 1/8" it would work fine to step up to the next jaws and finish. I ended up putting some washers between the jaws and the back plate to get them to expand more. Then i was able to switch to the bigger jaws and finish out.

I did **** the expanding cone into the backing plate trying to get to 2" so I could switch to the bigger jaws amd it did deform my bearing a little bit and make an indent in the backing plate but it still works. Just making the smaller jaws go to 2 1/8" would solve any issues since they would overlap the bigger jaws just a bit. Not sure if that's easy for astro to change or not but that would be a huge help when expanding pipe around the 2" ID.

One other issue I ran into, which is no fault of astro at all is my magnetic 52sl light I got when they ran the bogo deal with the wireless charger. I was doing some ball joints the other week and was grinding the rivets off. Well when I knocked the hot rivet out it flew towards my light I had stuck in the wheel well and the hot rivet stuck to the magnet on the light. I started to smell something burning and saw my light smoking. It melted some of the plastic on the light. Not an issue with the light but just something to keep in mind when working. I didnt even think about it until it happened.

I'm glad to hear that it was fixed. I absolutely love this pipe expander and have used it many times to fix exhausts. Thank you for the great customer service also.

I had a chance to use the double cut 1/4" shank burrs set 2181 couple weeks back. Worked very well!

Replaced windows on house with brick front. Could not get to the nails on the nailing fin with a cats paw without damaging the brick. Used a rounded end burr in a HF die grinder and in short order all the nail heads were gone and windows came out easy.

Known of the Astro brand for a number of years now but had never purchased anything of theirs until this week. I needed a new blow gun and was tired of buy cheap $15 dollar ones every 6 months or so. I was putting in an order for other items so decided to grab their 4" and 13" guns. Only used them a couple of times so far but they seem to be built well. Far more flow/pressure than my previous ones on the same air system. The rubber tip is nice as well for working close to delicate surfaces. Hopefully they hold up better than the cheap ones I've been dealin with the last number of years.

So I received the 3037 Astro belt sander last night looks good only things I see I don’t like are it doesn’t have a safety on the trigger and no cover over the drive area of the belt , there is a pinch area there with the direction the belt rotates . It works great . What is the best grit for grinding welds as far as cutting and lasting . I used the 36g it came with , cut real well but you can see the big stones do come off . Wondering if the 60g might be a little slower but last longer / a little easier to clean up the scratches . Thanks

Recently bought the Astro magnetic spark plug socket set 94404.

Finally had a chance to use them (well, really only one size ) yesterday.

They work about 9247% better than rubber-insert spark plug sockets (all that I previously had used).

Nice polished chrome plating, partial swivel connection to the permanently attached extension (can be disassembled if need be by removing a set screw), some knurling on both the socket OD and the extension shaft for finger grip and spinning by hand, nice strong magnet that holds onto the spark plug nicely.

With spark plugs recessed into the heads (sometimes a LOT), it is SO nice to not have to worry about the socket losing its 'grip' to the spark plug or an extension pulling out of the socket.

So, a BIG to Astro for these. They are NICE. Nice to look at, nice to hold, and nice to use. Made the job go nice and smooth with no issues with/from the tool. Highly recommended.

Also used my Astro 3/8" nano ratchet 93808 for this job, short handle version. Again, a quality tool. The attachment from the tool to the extension held on great and released when I pushed the release button just like it should, the polished chrome is nice to look at and to use (nice and smooth on the hands), short handle was plenty of torque for working on spark plugs, the ratchet mechanism was smooth and worked with no issues, the reversing lever was right where my thumb could reach it to easily switch from remove to install to remove to install, the 'nano' size was a bit lighter and easier to maneuver around than a 'full size' 3/8" drive ratchet.

So, a quick shout-out to Astro for making quality tools that make the job/task go more smoothly with no tool-related drama or issues.

I said it before but I'll say it again, Astro is on the top of my list of tool choices.

We just have drawings, but it's as good a time as any to to get it into production. Works with a simple ball bearing to be able to rotate freely and not damage the knuckle. A couple sizes, a couple pieces per size. Should be pretty affordable, take a few months for manufacturing and testing though.

Not sure if it would be cost effective, but I would want 3 per set.
