Does anyone know if this brand tool is any good. I am planning to buy ATD Tools (ATD13783) 32 pc. Master Hex Bit Socket Set. Not sure where they are made of (COO). This set seems most complete. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Taiwan is coo. I can't comment on the quality of the hex bit socket set but I have a snap ring pliers set from ATD. I haven't used them alot but the seem to be a decent tool.

My local napa will warranty them if one breaks

They make allot of tools for oem's. And are pretty well made tools. They are high quality tools. Not sure how hard their hex bits are. Bur the sockets portion are very good.

I find Taiwan bits a tad softer then us and German bits.

VIM stuff is Taiwan and their hex sockets hold up just as well as Snap-On.

I'm pretty sure they make the strut spring compressor for Harbor Freight's U.S. General brand.

I appreciate all the reply and suggestion about my post.
I will not be using them in Shop, mostly Saturday mechanic works on and home use. So as someone suggested VIM product also(not sure if they have a complete set as this ATD set) which one would be my best choice? Or if there is a third choice within a reasonable price range.

I used to think ATD stood for Asian Tool Design instead of Advanced Tool Design. Anyway, I don't think they're a manufacturer but, are a rebadger popular with independent tool jobbers. They sell tools that look just like Vim, Titan, ESI, and others.

Vim makes very complete torx and bit driver sets from S2 tool steel that are pretty durable. Gearwrench also has some smaller sets that can be had fairly cheap on Ebay if you shop around.

have that exact set and use it professionally. Awesome bits. I use em with my impact and haven't broken one yet. Have actually had other mechanics say the wished they saw mine before they spent hundreds on their matco and s/o bits. Im not saying they're as good as the truck brands but there damn close and certainly a much better value. Don't hesitate to buy em especially since your only using em occasionally

I have a handful of ATD tools, they hold up decently well for the price. I agree with others that they just re-brand tools, so their quality control will PROBABLY be spotty.

Their hex bits in the green holder LOOK TO ME just like Cornwell's. I also have a 6+ year old set of HF bits that are identical to the Cornwell/ATD. I AM GUESSING they all come from the same factory.

Just my 2 cents.

How do you know ATD is an OEM and not just another company that rebrands and markets the tools? If you look on their website, it looks like they have a lot of items that appear pretty generic and very similar to items rebranded by a bunch of companies.

Also, their website doesn't say anything about them actually manufacturing any tools.

http://atdtools.com/about/

I seen tools of them for Nissan and Hyundai, not in the US.

I haven't seen any ATD tools since technical school in high school, I got myself an ATD ratchet and some sockets from there and they are great! The ratchet was my favorite ratchet, and my go to, for years, until I started buying Snap-On lol.

I sent out a note to ToolTopia customer service and they told me this product is made in China and has only 1 year warranty. Does anyone know about this. My idea was this is made in Taiwan and had a Lifetime Warranty. If that is the case how come on ebay same set is selling saying Lifetime Warranty.

You might want to look at some OTC if you are looking to save some money, and I think they are still made in taiwan.

The snap ring pliers I bought are taiwan made with lifetime warranty. The napa clerk where I bought them called their distributer to verify.

Also the tool web and tool source circulars I read at napa stated atd pliers have a lifetime warranty.

I dunno about hex bits from atd

For hex bits, which I don't use very often, I have crafty sets so if I break one it's an easy exchange

I have an ATD hex kit and love it! Very complete and seems like very nice tools. I have had it for a couple years now and have yet to break one. I talked with a Cornwell dealer and he said that ATD and Cornwell are in a partnership for a lot of tools that Cornwell doesnt make in house like their hex bits.

Our parts jobber uses ATD as the house brand. I have some stuff I bought there as needed or on sale, I am sure they have a QC plan of sorts, everything has worked very well. I bought a 4 piece adjustable wrench set to toss in a tractor or something and they worked well enough the fell in to general circulation and the 12 inch is riding shotgun in my pickup. The jaw opens a bit wider than Proto or Diamond.

As for warranty, I am pretty much who cares, toss it in the scrap, I am not fooling with a bit I paid 50 cents for.

He was full of ****. Cornwell has nothing to do with ADT. ATD was started by 8 (now 7) tool whole-sellers. They are the only companies that can buy from ATD.

Previously I posted that tooltopia customer service told ATD set it made in china. But I think sometime they have a very little idea or does not have access to the actual product. They gave me same COO = china on a sunex tool. But when I got the product it said "Taiwan". So it may be the ATD is still made in Taiwan.

Bringing this one back from the dead.:D
After needing to use the shop's tool room set of 'Silver Eagle' torx/hex bits, I've been looking around for who actually manufactures it, to no avail.
http://www.matcotools.com/catalog/product/SBS41SE/41-PC-SILVER-EAGLE-SOCKET-BIT-DRIVER-SET/

Since I haven't been able to find that set without the Matco price, I stumbled onto the ATD 72 piece set, and will most likely just go this route, as long as they actually are still Taiwan and not China.
Wanted to see if anyone who picked up this set recently could comment if they are still Taiwan, or now China?

I am pretty sure VIM is the OEM for Cornwells tox and hex. I have a set and they are pretty durable and not to bad priced for tool truck stuff even if imported
