I've been looking for a floor drill press for a little while when this came up on my local Craigslist for $250. Is it a good deal?

That's not a terrible price, especially if everything works. I see it has an arc of shame but that can be patched, the table lift on the production table is a nice bonus. I restored a similar 1060 but mine had a standard table on it with no lift, I probably would have kept if it did.

I used JB Weld on my drill press table. Devcon also works extremely well.

That table lift alone often sells for more than the price of the machine on eBay.

I refurbished and sold a table lift like that for $325 a couple of years ago.

Your mileage may vary...

It's as good or better than any new one of the same price.
If you need one, that one will work just fine for you.
But:
Unless you have a real and often use for it, I'd pass. They take up more room than it appears in that picture.
I have a $90 ryobi counter top unit. I haven't used the floor press in years.
24 " counter, I can slide the ryobi back against the wall and still have plenty of space.
true, I have a (I think) its a 17-900 delta, about 15 years old, Floor model, 12 speed, nice drill press, but I don't find myself using it all that often.
Its nice though if you have something tall to drill.
But they say too, you can cut a hole in your bench, and slide the bench out, put the DP up to the wall, and push the bench back in.
Really, your right about the floor space, but then there is the other side of the coin, that a bench model takes up bench space, So, l guess there is always a trade off.

I just got an old "Cone head" today, its smaller than l thought it was (from the CL picture) but, l had to have it................:willy_nil
Will be posting pictures in the "garage sale" thread later, as it's still in the car. It is a heavy little ****** for it's size though.

Actually i am going to sell my 17-900 delta floor model drill press.
Probably kick my self a month after, I'll need the height for something then.

EDIT,
if you going to be drilling a lot of metal, you may want to consider building a jack shaft speed reduction set up for the atlas.
Why not offer $200.00 for the altas.
I think it's worth it,.

Now that's a score, only $50 bucks but that's about 20% off asking if you look at it that way. Can't wait for the resto! I think mine is documented in my projects thread. Only issue I ran in to was removing the head but that took literally days of aggravation and headaches!!!
