Have had some activity finally. Decided to gray the color of removed sockets, and list who they were sent to...perhaps will keep the thread from being abused.. Several have said they will be adding to the list: looking forward to their additions
.
is anyone interested in what i just i did here? ( updated @ 2:00pm Eastern Time)
it's editable from the thread
i can take it down...
.

hey, just saw this and wanted to say I think its a nice idea. may I make a suggestion? i think it might be helpful to know the posters location. if someone is giving me something for free, I personally would offer to pay for shipping, but it might not make sense if the person is on the other side of the planet. likewise, even if the person giving away wants to pay for shipping, I would feel bad if the shipping cost was really high. on the other hand if someone is in the same town, I might ask them if I could pick up the item.
I'm a little confused how this works. I have a lot of duplicates as well and I'm trying to fill out sets. Can we do trades to help each other out?
.
posted.. i'll have more as they are discovered.
I think this is freaking awesome. In fact, I'm half tempted to raid the bargain bin misc sockets from the local pawn, put together what sets I can from that, then give away the leftovers in that thread.![]()

ok, i just thought of something very evil and wondering how we can prevent it. let's say someone who finds out about this thread starts requesting various sockets from people only to sell on ebay? so GJ members simply become a free supply of goods for such an evil person... how do we prevent that?
if hotfr8 removes his post, then the spreadsheet can be post #2 or #3.
any posts prior to mine can point to my post with this link
i would list doubles.. because you never know when the first one will get shipped/deleted..
also, it depends on if the picker favors a certain source (for many reasons).
it will not auto-sort, yet.. i'll work on it, but probably will not find a good solution.
public access is really the only way users can easily add/delete their own data.
if the spreadsheet gets defaced i can pull-up the last good copy..
backups are automated with each change.
it feels redundant, but if people also post their list, it will BTT.
**There is not a good solution to protect the data
The reason is that they need to be savvy on copying / saving a link for each item on the list to edit/delete each item later.. this management method will fail at the user-level, every time.**
I think with a little bit of faith, public access can will work well, but there will be those times when something may go awry.. and I'll have to pull-up the auto backup.

There is really no sure-fire way to prevent it completely. Someone set on abusing this, will find a way. Posting the recipient of each socket does put in place some accountability but we are stuck with good will/faith...which, although there are rules in place, is the premise of this entire thread..

Wow, Jawn made a big post.. that would take a lot of effort to transfer to the spreadsheet...Have realized that it takes a good while to add to the spreadsheet ..I'll have plenty of practice to speed up though

More coming. I raided the 1/4" bin at the pawn shop... brought home 93 1/4" drive sockets for under 10 bucks. Most of them I pieced into sets, those are some of the leftovers. No telling what I'll find in the 3/8" and 1/2" bins.
I'll try adding mine later.Yep.. if the spreadsheet dies, this will be the reason.
Well, if you go to a certain pawn shop and find the 1/4" bin is almost completely out of USA made sockets, you'll know I beat you to it... and if you wait very long, the 3/8" bin and 1/2" bin are gonna get cherrypicked too.Hey now, you stay out of my Atlanta pawnshops!

Yay!Your sockets went out today by the way...I almost just drove them over to you.
Would've cost more in gas tho.

Its not hurting anything. I need to figure out a faster way to input.
I added links above the spreadsheet which will allow a separate window to open and sort or edit the spreadsheet normally. Its not hurting anything. I need to figure out a faster way to input.
