My wife and I recently purchased our first home and luckily for me we came to the agreement that she can do what she will in the house, but the garage is mine :) After completing the first major project in the house, it's my turn. It is a small garage, only 18X19 so space is limited. My plans include but are not limited to the following:
- Paint
- Shelving
- Workbench
- 1 - stool height
- 1 - thick top work bench
- Utility Sink
-Lighting: four T8 4' fixtures and one to hang over the bench on a separate switch.

So far I have accomplished two phases of the garage and currently am in phase three(paint). Over the next week or two I will cut out the places for extra outlets, hide the garage door opener wiring, mud, primer and then paint.

Phase One:
- Get rid of space taking shelf and clean

Before:

After:

Phase Two:
The only things that were done in this phase were to hang the bicycles, put up some hooks for cords and organize a bit more.

Phase Three:

Please forgive the phone camera photos. For the paint color I have been looking at different things Audi to find a good gray color to use. A friend of mine has a collection of books including one that gives a history of the design for the Audi Museum in Germany. My plan is to use this as a reference for the color. I don't want to put too much Audi specific things in the garage but put in some accents to set it apart.

Nice start. One year they painted the TT in a non-metallic dove gray that I loved. That along with a dark navy blue accent would be my choice. Have fun.

I used Audi Garage as the title so I could remember what it was :) Here is the car outside of the garage before the spring detail.

I maintain an Audi dealership and will keep an eye out for some audi wall art to jazz up your garage.

Nice! That would be awesome! I want to have this garage build be simple yet tasteful and some wall art would be a very nice added touch :)

Sorry to say it but it's an A4 :( I had that bumper and put it on. I like it a lot more than the stock one.

Very interested in what you do with this, I just got a new place and my garage is about the same size.

Was going to say..noticed the A4 rockers.. Still a great car..especially after a turbo upgrade and chip to the 1.8L. I had a '98 and an '02.. well missed!

look forward to seeing the progress..and go test drive the new A7 when you have time..was quite impressed..

It's been a great car, needs the turbo upgrade and chip ;). But even in its slow state I still love driving it. The A7 would be a fun one to test drive for sure.

Congrats on the new place.
Do you have to keep the garbage cans in the garage?

Thanks!
The garage cans can go outside, I want to keep them in mind when designing the layout though for when the snow hits I can pull them in.

Finally did something worth noting. Put in two 4' fluorescents today and ran Ethernet to where the computer setup will be.

I thought so, must be your stock bumper and rebar hanging on the wall.

fellow audi owner here. Have a B6 and B5, A4s currently.

I love the interior of the B6. That bumper on the wall is from my brother's Coupe Quattro :) I recently picked up a 90 20v as my project money pit :) love the classics!

Got myself a welder, helmet, gloves, a borrowed saw and some free metal to build a workbench. Learned a lot from this first welding project and hope the shelf turns out a little better. I'm glad to finally have a stool height bench!

I too have an "innie" but drive an Audi. LOL

Been collecting Audi goodies and driving Audi's since the 80's.

The next car and a shot of an Audi factory poster I picked up during an IMSA race in the late 80's.

rmckee and styler thanks for the comments :)

I was able to update the garage a little today by adding a built in shelf. Length is just under 6' and width is 2'. Originally I was going to do 3' wide, but that took up a little too much of the already small garage space available. All in all it took about 7 hours to complete(including clean up and putting everything on the shelf) and I am glad my wife is patient. This summer I'll pull it back off to prep and paint it black. It's still missing two plywood pieces on either side to allow hanging of different things and to help minimize things falling off. This is my second welding project with the free welder my old man gave me. I am learning a lot and am enjoying having a small welder available whenever I need it.

Small update: had a few hours to build the computer hanger under the bench. I'm learning a lot about how to work with metal along the way :)

Did someone say Audi? Oh, well that gives me an excuse to post a pic of mine!

Nice Ride!
Makes my 01' A6 quattro seem like a pile, but we love driving it. Over the years we have had 8 Audi's. Started with the 5000s models.

The Audi garage caught my eye too!

Mm

Thanks. This is actually my first Audi ever, but I've liked them since the mid-90's. My last German car was an E36 M3, but I'm happier behind the wheel of the Audi. It makes me smile every time I drive it!

Hey that M3 is no slouch, something about the newer Audi's I really like. That M3 would look like nice sitting next to the Audi!

Mm

Even Stephen that is one nice A5 :) I've had the same A4 for just over 5 years and it never gets old. My hope with this garage is to get as many cool Audis (and other German makes ;) in there for photos. My fingers are crossed for an R8 someday :)

This should be a great build!

Thanks! That is a good looking A3 you have there, and an awesome backdrop to go along with it! The big goal this summer is to have the shelving and walls painted and maybe a utility sink next to the door.

Small update today. Made a shelf to go above the work bench in an effort to keep the bench clear of books and random things that need to be easily accessible. The only fab item left to make is a shorter table with a thick metal slab with a vice.

The turbo makes a nice deco piece.

Here's a great addition to any german car garage:
