I can say you'd probably not want to visit here in the winter (Dec. thru March) but it is truly a great place to be the rest of the year. I live on the mid coast in a small town called Waldoboro. If you ever do come here to visit your mate, I would love to meet up with you.

It has been a while since I posted on here. Had some time off working on the shed due to disk problems in my back. All seems in order now, so stuck into it again. Would like to have it water tight before the wet really sets in.
Finished the back side which takes most of the weather. This was accomplished with the help of my very strong neighbour, and work college. Once scaffolding in place for the front, will call him again for more assistance. He was a godsend!!
All of the windows are in. I had to enlarge the openings for the high windows, as the window company made them 100mm too tall. Oh well more window for the same price.
Working on the upper area, and will finish this off tomorrow if not raining again.
Next finish off the entrance to the office.
Once this is complete, will move the scaffolding around to do the front above the large doors. Looking forward to getting this done.

Just in case you were wondering, yes the workshop does look good!!!
Just a quick update.
Eye appointment went well, but was very expensive trip. Ended up purchasing a new to me dream car. Finally had it delivered up to Cairns last Monday. Will be my toy to drive up and down the Kuranda range to go to and from work. At least I will have a place to park it.
Got some friends around, and hung some more high sheets on the front of the garage. To keep it in perspective, the roller doors are 3.6m high. Just one more high side to complete and get it waterproof. Moved the scaffolding today, so hopefully get it up tomorrow if I can enlist some help.

I was wondering how you were going/ Glad to see everything is moving along nicely. Did you get any "prepaid tickets" with the car?

No prepaid tickets, but on the first night I had it, took the son for a drive, and to see what the lights are like (halogens). Passed 2 cars, went around a corner, and there was a mobile speed camera. Did not see a flash, but not sure if they still do that. Don't know my speed was, and don't know what the posted speed was. Waiting to see if a ticket arrives in the post.
Qld is getting as bad as Victoria as far a speed cameras go. Just remember they are for safety, and not revenue raising!!

It has been a while since I posted anything here, so thought I had better fill you in what has been happening.
Shed is almost watertight. Have three sheets to hang, but means moving scaffolding again. Have put sheeting under the eaves where I can reach on one side. Has been exceptionally hot here, so it has been difficult to enlist friends to help with the last sheets. Have picked up guttering and fascia, so will install where I can reach also.
Have constructed a work bench, and moved my tools and supplies from my other shed to this one. This has left a room that I can convert to a bedroom for the tenant.
She (the tenant) has been overseas, so my wife wanted to replace the tiles in the bathroom, and hall whilst she was away. The shower tiles had been painted (which was coming off), I think to help waterproof the base. The shower has been leaking since we moved into the property, so out came the jackhammer, and demolition has begun. Most of the wall timbers behind the shower were rotten, and crumbled in my hands. So once agin, a moderate job grows into a major refit.
My wife, and design guru has decided she wants a glass wall, and not an enclosed shower. This meant that I needed to slope the floor towards the drain. The day was spent jackhammering and grinding the floor. Replacing bottom plates of walls, and re-enforcing wall studs, and attaching them to the new bottom plates.
Had to remove the cement sheeting in the shower area, as the tiles were adhered too well to it. Was too damaged to be usable.
Tomorrow, plan on getting the rest of the cement sheets up, and get a good waterproof barrier in place.
Lots of work still to do.

It looks like you have your hands full there with the shower upgrade and all the best with it..
Some thing that you would seem a simple project that starts with replacing the tiles can get out of control so easily, a job worth doing is worth doing right..

So, what should have been a 3 - 4 day job turned out to be 7 solid days of work. Finally got everything ready for the shower screen, but am heading overseas tomorrow, so have to get organised for the trip. SWMBO has decided on increasing the tile height, which has meant that more wall tiles need to be ordered. Have two more boxes for the bathroom, and then 2 more for the kitchen backsplash. Should be here when I return.
Missed the cyclone heading for Queensland by a few hundred k's so lucked out on that front. Good luck to those in the path.

Are you getting ready for winter? Is the garage weather tight yet?

Hey Terrick, the winter time is the best time to build up here, unlike down south where it freezes. Dropped down to 17deg C, and I had my woollies on!!
I have been side tracked with completing the shed, as I have ended up completely renovating a bungalow on our property. Started out wanting to re-waterproof a shower whilst the tenant moved out. Has been three months of re-building, tiling the whole place bar bedrooms, and adding bedroom to the bungalow. Ready for carpet in the bedrooms next week, and then up for rent again for the school holidays coming up.
Have a good solid day of work on the shed with help to get it watertight, and then guttering, and flashing to go up. Will paint after that, and get it signed off with council. Not much to go until sign off, but need to get motivated again.
Will post photo's when working on it again, along with photo's of the bungalow.

Ken, thanks for the update. Sounds like you have had a bit on your plate..
Well bungalow complete, so back to the shed. All the siding is up. and some of cement sheet soffits are in place. Have fascia, and guttering on the high portion in place. Spent the day painting the large side. Two coats on the upper portion. One coat on the lower so far. Nice blue. Will be hot, but that is what SHMBO wanted. Shed is in the shade for most of the day, so should not be too bad.
Was given some second hand Jarra decking, so got half of the front deck in place. Looks really nice.

I got nailed for running a red light in Denton Texas a couple of years ago. I swear it was yellow when I entered but who do you argue with? You will be pleased, I am sure, to know that the here in the USA the computer program and the hardware for this kind of thuggery is provided by an Australian Company that gets a 75 percent cut of the revenue. The State of Arkansas, where I live, prohibits their use.

I swear I replied to this last night, but it's looking good!
Been working a lot at the job that pays the bills, so limited time to work on shed. Have moved scaffolding and have started to paint the front, along with install fascia and soffits. Unfortunately this side is in the sun most of the day. The scaffolding becomes very hot to kneel on to reach difficult access areas.
Coming along slowly, but have been taking my time to get it done right the first time, and not have to set up scaffolding again.

Hey, its blending into to surrounding area nicely.
Have been doing some painting between other jobs around here. Yesterday spent the morning training with the SES (State Emergency Service) and re-qualifying for my chainsaw cert with them. Had some large trees leaning over my driveway to my house. Wanted them out before this cyclone season. So organised a training day with my group. Dropped them on the drive and had a "storm damage" tree clearing exercise. Was good to get the chainsaws out, and fired up to make sure they would work when needed. Had 9 members around, and they were fantastic. Great group of people. Chopped up the trees, and dragged the pieces down to my paddock to be either mulched, or hauled to the tip.
SHMBO then put on a great lunch for them.

Just a quick update on the shed construction. Spent the day moving scaffolding, and painting. The colour is coming along nicely
Finished nailing off the sheets on the office side, as they were tacked in place. Had to remove some flashing straighten it, and replace on the siding of the office. Had a hump in it (not level), and it was driving me crazy every time I looked at it. Had to do it before I paint this side.
Started to get the facia up and screwed in place on the office side also. Guttering next, along with downspouts and drain pipes. So lots of work, but not much to show for it.

Facia up, and guttering on the office side. Then finished off all the rest of the high siding. 475mm pieces above the metal flashing where the sheets join. Ended up using scrap pieces, and milled them to fit. This area can be seen in the first photo, under the eaves where the blue backing of the foil can be seen. Beats purchasing a full sheet at $120. They came out fine, and I am the only one that might see any imperfections in my work.
Then painted this side, as the weather if fine. Only one side to finish off now. Looks good with the light roofing material. Second photo shows the patio and sides (high and low) painted.
I still have flashing up high to install, and the scotia boarding (cement sheet) to put up. Need to rip the wailer board and attach it to the face of the wall still. Then battens to support the 4mm cement sheet. These will support the scotia and strengthen the top plate.
Working over the weekend, so will try and tackle some more next week.

Thanks for stopping by my thread and looking in our shed build.
That is a great looking garage you have going. I love the shed roof design of course. The deck off the front is awesome as well. Probably a great place for a cold one after the work is done.

Have been busy finishing off painting the outside. Have a few strips of moulding to paint, along with downspouts, and the passage door, but outside is essentially finished.
All flashing is up, and screwed off, so once I line the underside roof of the deck, can get the final approval signed off. Then on to the inside!
Have had the electrician around, and have run rough in for power points. The lighting is done, including ceiling fans. These will be disconnected when I hang the plaster, then re connected.
Have put 2 x 50w led spot lights in the main area, and they light it up very nicely.
Put a 30w led light outside, and is perfect amount of light. Have fluro's in the workshop area, but had these on hand. Is nice to have a switch to turn them on though.

The headliner of the Porsche Cayman was sagging, so tackled it today. Was fairly easy getting the headliner out, thanks to youtube.
Once out, verified that it was the foam backing that was breaking down, and not the glue. Seems to be a common problem in hot climates.
I didn't want to go back to what was on it, as I didn't like the feel of it anyways.
Purchased a couple of meters of imitation suede material at $17 dollars a metre. A can of spray on adhesive and more youtube instructions, made short work of the liner. I still have almost a metre left to do any inside lining I wish to do also.
Am really proud of my work, and looks like a pro did it. Will let it set up over the weekend, and install on Monday when I have the day off.
