Anyone check out this guys channel?
Any speculation on who it may be?Some say he's a member here.
.
It's a shame, because his early videos were actually really good. But his "AvE Character" is just getting to be too much. He's getting more and more full of himself, more belligerent towards his viewers/commenters, and just more unwatchable. Lately he's been making lots of bold claims without anything to back them up, and he gets belligerent when people call him out on it.I Have tried to watch his channel on more than one occasion. But I can't seem to get past his Incoherent ramblings and Constant **** talk.
At about 10 minutes into the video, he breaks the gear assembly on the new Hercules grinder; I was disappointed in that.

It's not the "bad words" that bothers me. It's his eccentricities. Like when he tears open a box with a chainsaw and then complains when the item inside doesn't work right. How can you complain the trigger on a glue gun is sticky when you smashed the thing with a hammer to open the box?Take it for what it is, it is a pretty good informative channel. I work in the service industry, and am pretty much immune to anything offensive. I find it really hard to be offended actually.
As for his inability to take a calling out, he did just that a few days ago with a video called exactly, "I made a mistake!" He appreciated the call out, and the ability to learn from said call out.

Likewise with the recent Fluke meter. He called it garbage even though he didn't RTFM. When called out by several electronics guys in the comments, he acted beligerent towards them. Yeah some things he admits he's wrong on, but not everything.
Seriously, go watch his first dozen or so videos compared to the latest. Huge decline in quality and content. Huge increase in ego.
I think Ave is more entertainment than actual engineering. But he does seem knowledgeable in a lot of fields. But then again Canadians are a little "different"![]()
My opinion of Ave has changed a little but I guess it depends on which videos you decide to watch. Ave lives in the Vancouver, BC area. There are rural areas around here near the border that are straight out of a Dukes of Hazard set and my impression of Ave was that he was a city guy putting on a backwoods act, This Old Tony is the soothing Yin to Ave's raging wang...I mean Yang.LOL, I think he likes those a lot, I thought it was a Canadian thing, but nope, he likes them a lot ... him and this old tony channel seems to be the same guy but completely 180 opposite in the spectrum...

They're different but I've learned plenty from both of them.

There are dozens of other YouTube educational channels with smart, educated and entertaining individuals with far less hubris than AvE.Common guys it's an average guy in his basement or garage putting videos on youtube...let's see you do better.
Why are you using a homeowner grade arts & craft hot glue gun in a Canadian mine?I think for what it is the channel is good. Remember most of it is for entertainment, but if a tool can't take a little abuse during opening do we think it's going to last in a Canadian mine?

He knocks the products in his reviews, for damage he caused. He complains about the trigger on something being sticky, even though he smashed the freakin' thing with a hammer opening the package. There was a comment about his reviews about a sticking trigger and it possibly being caused by the way he opens packages. My comment was simply that if he's reviewing things, that it's clear that his opinion is that it should be able to take some form of abuse, but does not mean that everything he uses has to be like that. Aside from being part of the review, the way he opens packages is entertaining, which is part of what he does.
it's clear you're not a fan, and that's ok.
Good analysis. Totally agree. It's a shame, because his early videos were actually really good. But his "AvE Character" is just getting to be too much. He's literally become a caricature of himself (the term flanderization comes to mind). Not sure I can really blame the guy though, when he's got hundreds of thousands of subscribers, and thousands of comments all screaming his catch phrases. That'll go to your head pretty quick.
