Since I'm a new person on this board, it only makes sense that I should swing by and piss some folks off.
I know how I do business. And if I did business by thinking my customers should relax and get their ******* out of a wad, I'd be out of business.
Maybe that is how you do business... It's not how I do business.
Mistakes happen. That's real life. Guess what the Business man does when he screws up -if he wants to keep a customer?
He does what he can to Make Right and do good business. Period.
For those of you saying other customers would be miffed if they saw a guy getting special treatment- really? Most people would probably not even notice. If anyone did and asked, the manager need only say, "He was dealing with a previous standing order." It's not a big deal.
Is it worth the O.P. yelling at the manager or swinging his fists? No.
So, what is it worth?
It's worth it when you walk into any establishment you bring your greenbacks into and get Crappy Service. You telling me you guys never got snarky responses or attitude from an associate at a store or restaraunt? I have. And it comes back to how I do business. And I'm a jerk because I have a few particularly annoying standards:
-I expect others to do business with me the way I would do it.
-I expect to be treated with dignity and courtesy when I am doing the paying.
-I expect customer service when I am a customer.
These are without exception. They stand. Because of what it is worth...
Insurance companies screwing you over. Businesses screwing you over. Because a lot of people don't want to complain. They fear judgment from others for having the audacity to stand up for themselves. And they stay silent and swallow it down when a business treats them in any manner that is less than standard- or even poorly.
And in so doing, you make it harder on the rest of us who must be louder and more annoying to compel a business or establishment to Make Right by the customer. Because we're the minority, today.
I do agree with some things, though:
-Walking into Harbor Freight was the first mistake.

-It's worth advising the manager on how to properly deal with a customer and even taking it to his boss if he gives you a hard time. It's not worth extra fuss to the point that upper management will think you're batsh*t crazy and ignore your pleas.
There are some things Harbor Freight is good for. I buy from there on occasion... Not Mechanics tools... But like shrink wrap for wiring, for example.
Saying that you pay less there so should expect less in nonsense. They are practicing competitive pricing for one- which includes competitive service. If you're keeping costs down it's because you want customers. So as prices drop, service should increase. That's economics.
For two, Harbor Freight is cheap because the bulk of what they sell is cheap **** made from cheap sulfur laden poorly refined steel manufactured with the exploitation of desperately poor people feeding a small portion of their economy while depriving ours.
If I had my way, we'd be Exporting high demand quality... Not selling out to importing low quality. But I don't get it my way... It ain't Burger King--- because Customer Service went out of style years ago, along with Quality and Pride in craftsmanship.
