Bad QuickJack customer support experience-- help needed!

I purchased a QuickJack about a year ago and have enjoyed its mobility and ease of use with our 3 vehicles, but about 2 weeks ago it was stuck in the fully lifted position with a car on top. After being told that I was using the QuickJack outside of its intended operational temperatures (I understand in California the temps never drop below Sunny and 75, but I live in Wisconsin and it gets cold sometimes and I can't wait until Spring to fix a water pump), I brought the unit in the house and had a go trying to identify the failure method. I eventually tracked it down to the failed relay in the electrical box on top of the motor. I can manually switch it over and was able to get my car down, but this is a major inconvenience. I've called QuickJack (BendPak) customer support numerous times and have been given answers such as "we don't have a reference to your product, sorry we can't help you" to "email our parts department". Well after my email to parts had gone unanswered, I called and asked to be transferred to the parts department -- I was disconnected twice while on the line! I've given up, and am turning to the Garage Journal for some help.

Can anybody help spec a relay so I can get my car down off of the QJ? I've attached an image of the failed relay.

Thanks so much in advance!

Given the failure, I would order a couple for spares, in case your unit has become the step child of the maker....

But what does he do with the other 999 relays?.... multiple searches come up with 1000 piece minimums ..

Personally, I would order the same or equivalent piece online if I could get it for under $10 and save myself the headache.... or maybe JSK will jump in and help this guy out.

I did a search on Google and used Google Translate to pull the specs on the relay:

https://translate.google.com/transl...www.100135.com/slec/cp437431.html&prev=search

1. Application scope

HLR6100-2ATUBCF-AC208/240 Power Relay 1A is 1 pole. 2A is 2 poles, rated current is 30A. Connector terminal (T type) is main. Screw terminal (B type). Terminals for printed circuit board (P type), etc. Suitable for single-phase load circuit control of compressors, heater controls, motors, power controls, copiers, fax machines, lighting control, microwave ovens, packaging machines and food processing machinery. This product has a small size. Light weight, low coil power consumption, large contact load, strong impact resistance, high reliability, etc.

2. Model and its meaning

HL R 6100 - 2A T UB CF

HL - Enterprise Feature Code

R - Relay

6100 - Designation number

Contact methods: 2A: Group 2 normally open Contacts

T: quick connect

Installation method: UB: base panel installation

Insulation class: CLASS F

So basically, this is a double pole, single throw relay that needs 120 VAC to operate the coil and activate the relay. It has two sets of contacts, both are normally open, and close when the relay is powered up. The contacts are rated for 30 amperes at 120 VAC and 277 VAC.

I can't be sure without looking at it, but it appears to be similar to this Magnecraft relay:

https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetai...=sGAEpiMZZMtSzCF3XBhmW9EnqjVdSHz/drP9A9vkHo0=

If you download the datasheet, it shows the pictures of three different mounting styles and the dimensions... perhaps they are identical? The plug in socket model is probably the one you want, and I'd bet the only difference between it and the Panel/DIN mount one is the "ears" on the relay to bolt it to a panel.

If I had to guess, it's a 725 BXX B 120A but I'd need to verify the socket layout to be sure. (That info is also on the datasheet.)

Got any pics of the socket that it fits into? Maybe one with a tape measure or ruler next to it so we can see the dimensions?

Hope this helps,

Mark

The member JSK is on this board from BendPak who might be able to help. I also dealt with Eduardo Garcia (egarcia at bendpak dot com) for my lift when I needed parts and he was helpful.

I had the same issue with the Quickjack (stuck up with a car on it) but mine was brand new. After weeks and weeks of troubleshooting with them and parts being shipped cross country finally told them to pick up their s—t and ordered a Maxjack - works great.

This is what customer service is all about. Hopefully the original relay is captured for evaluation and identification of failure to avoid similar issues.

You would probably be money ahead with a Square D definite purpose contactor...if it will fit in your electrical enclosure. A relay is a really simple device and if its failing then I'd try to step up to a different manufacturer over "replace with same". Plenty of relays are out there that outlast most people in normal service. As above, if another device won't fit then the attractiveness of that path goes down.

Go to an IEC contactor of 30A ampacity and I think it would be "set it and forget it"

We're going to have our electrical engineering team do a full test to find out why it failed.

Just wanted to give you guys a HUGE thumbs up!

JSK and the rest of the QJ Support team are working with me to get this resolved; I'll post another update when this is all complete so I can give credit where credit is due

That's terrible. I had some issues with mine but customer service was great with me. They did ship the wrong parts but other than that the people I dealt with were great.

This is some of the best and cheapest marketing a company can do.

if you use tools they will fail. good to see them making it right.
I'm a happy maxjax customer but I called them for seals to one of my cylinders that was leaking and they had no clue what to send me. the hydraulic shop figured it out so no biggy. that's just how things go sometimes.
