BAHCO tools

A while back I went to one of those traveling tool truck shows. They had mostly junk, but I did pick up a 1/4 dr rachet set by BAHCO, as well as a small combination wrench set. I think I paid about $30 each for them. seemed like a good deal, considering the box they came in shows a list price of nearly $200:shocking: Im not sure I really believed that, but I bought them anyway. As it turns out I REALLY like these tools and would like to get more of them. Does anyone know of a source for BAHCO tools? I found their website, but it doesnt appear that you can order through them, nor do they list dealers, or even prices in their catalogue. Do I just have to wait for the truck sale to come back around here?

Thanks, thats the outfit I got them from the first time...they sold them even cheaper than listed because they were at the end of their trip and wanted to unload them.

No, Bahco is (now) a SO-owned company. People (especially eBay Sellers) would like you to think Bahco is made by SO...

I also have that wrench set with the S-K wrench in the set...very shiny stuff. The local store has line wrenches and several different socket/ratchet sets too. If it was metric it would be a lot more meaningful to me, the only car I have that uses SAE fasteners is the 65 Mustang...

I got that wrench set with the SK at from Cummins traveling tools, now called Toolsnow. I think I paid ~$20 for them. At the same show I got a KD serpentine belt tool for ~$15.

Cummins calls themselves Worldwide Liquidators now...the stores are 90% junk, but they have some Proto, Wright, Bahco and K-D also, if you take the time to pick through the junk to get to the good stuff.

Here in Finland are two kind of Bahco tools, with Belzer-brand and Bahco-brand, Belzer is better quality and more expensive than Bahco, and only real toolshops sells Belzer... Bahco-brand is sold almost every market... I think that Belzer socket and ratchets are made in Argentina, and Bahco sockets and ratchets are made in taiwan...

Here is difference

Belzer

Bahco

After that when Bahco bought Belzer, and SO bought Bahco, quality has come down... to the mid 90's those were best tools what you were able to get, and almost every farmer and car workshop used Bahco... And today they use old Bahco's what they have bought in 70's and 80's... But they don't use today's Bahco....

I would say that in 60's to 90's Bahco was Sweden's own Snap-on

Harry Epstein has a bunch of them on his site.

The old Volvo cars had BAHCO tools in the tool kit. My first old wrench was a BAHCO 8" adjustable with an alligator end.
Look at Papawswrench about 3/4s down the page on wrenches for my story, and a lot of info on BAHCO.

if you just love that us bahco stuff, try looking for some harley-davidson tools. about 99 percent positive that stuff was made from the same mold. they sold them at sears a few years back. wrenches, ratchets, sockets, maybe screwdrivers. they can still be found on ebay.

The Bahco stuff they sell here in europe is not as beautiful as the US stuff. The heads of this open end wrench looks like its grinded with grit 100 or so and then plated, you can still see all the grinding marks....
