Picked up this little Baldor 612 just recently on Marketplace. It appears I'm only missing the left and right tool rests. I'm having a hell of a time even finding the part numbers for these online, let alone the actual parts. Does anyone know the part numbers or where I can source these?

Thank you!

OP it looks like the tool rests are mounted to the grinder, just in the wrong position. They are not very substantial on the 6" grinders.

The tool rest support is HA6048A01SP and the tool rest is G6AP1009A01SP

Both parts are pretty easy to make and wait till you see the Baldor prices for these!

OP, again, it looks like the tool rests are installed on your grinder, just on in the wrong spot. They are stamped steel, not cast iron on the small models.. See stock photo with them in the right position.

At first glance I was thinking the same thing. When I search factory images of the 612 you can see metal angled pieces both above and below the wheels. I think the ones up above (green circles) are called the "spark arrestors". I believe I need what is circled in red called "tool rests".

Awesome! Just curous, how did you find that part number?

For true; a friend ordered all four parts and with shipping and tax, it came to nearly $100.

Any recommendations on websites with aggresive pricing? Looks like I found them for $17 a piece, doesn't seem too bad.

Not sure where that pic came from but I found this one. This pic has the 2 piece tool rests like what the model the OP has. Also the pic has the spark shields adjusted the way they are suppose to be used.

The top part is called a Tongue guard or Spark Arrestors. Only the 6” Baldors have that angled style.

For the tool rests better to find used, search eBay for “grinder tool rests” here’s a 612 I picked up recently with the stamped steel tool rests. The cast iron ones will fit as well.

Me personally I hardly use tool rests, and when I do it’s usually on my Kalamazoo

Those aren’t tool rests. They are to stop thing from getting sucked up into the housing. Think it’s called a tongue guard.

Argh, forgot to refresh the page before I replied, quilty and nutjob were well ahead of me.
I always thought they were spark arrestors. How would something get sucked up into that part of the housing?

Ahh, guess it means in the event the workpiece got away and could go up that way only to be kicked out at the body of the operator?

I have had luck getting replacement Baldor grinder parts from:
https://www.mrosupply.com/pumps/pump-parts-accessories/flanges/5767712_ha6098_baldor/
https://www.galco.com/

BTW - I've never seen 'tongue guard' used, just spark arrestor. Since the wheel rotates towards the operator, the tongue guard/spark arrestor is used to keep sparks and swarf from comming back over the top of the wheel towards the operator. Just like the tool rest, correct adjustment is necessary for proper functioning of them.

Google does show the same part when tongue guard is searched, here's a picture of Baldor part names.

Edit 11/18/22, There is a parts list for the discontinued? 612 model, here --> https://www.electricmotorwholesale.com/BALDOR-612/

Hi All
Just picked up a Baldor 612R cheap. Works great but its ugly and missing guard and tool rests on one side. If I can find a guard, might get motivated to repaint. Anybody know where to find these?
Does Baldor still sell the guard and tool rests? How about nameplates?
thanks
