I thought a few months back I saw a link to a list of banned members, just out of curiosity today I tried searching and found nothing, Was looking to see if a member I havent seen on in awhile was banned. Am I just imagining things? or was there a list?

Just use the search and click advanced search and you can search by member name. It will say banned under the name if he is.

They have a 'banned' list in other forum web sites I visit. It includes the date, the reason why with usually something funny added by the mod who swung the ban hammer! Great stuff!

I just noticed fflinstone is banned. What did he do? I didn't picture him as the type of guy to say something to get banned.

Banned Members List should stay private to Admin and Mods or it can get out of control.

Just my experience and 2¢

Any Member that has been banned should have "banned" under their name until they are unbanned. The only way this does not happen is when the Member is "Perma" banned and all the their posts have been removed from the System. This happens with Spam Bots and Members that are not contributors to the site but only here for trolling and such. The site that I moderate usually will not remove Members posts unless they are really unruly or have pissed off some of the higher ups. Only Ban that Member and remove some posts if they fit a certain criteria.

Thanks for pointing that out. I was unaware of it.

His last post was one in that thread about someone dumping trash in their neighborhood. I guess fflintstone though some of the people responding were "stupid" because of what they were advocating the OP should do. Other than that I don't see any recent posts that were insulting or anything.

Edit: I just looked in the mod panel and there is a note that he has been banned for 30 days only. I won't give the reason. He can field those questions if people ask him.

How do you get banned for 30 days? I thought it was just two one day bans then lifetime in the wasteland. Do bans get reset? I've had two handslaps and sometimes I really wanna tell someone off but don't think I can...... :lol_hitti

The three strikes is the normal path. But sometimes Ryan will temp-ban for longer periods if he feels the circumstances warrant it.

I may be missing something in his post, but I don't read it that way. I think he's talking about the people dumping trash being stupid by leaving their name and address behind.

Well, that was all I could see in his recent history that might have been problematic. But the note regarding the suspension indicates it was because of another reason. I don't know the details.

There's way too much info missing for anyone not directly involved to figure out the reason for the ban. It just seemed to me that it probably wasn't a direct result of his last post.

"the System. This happens with Spam Bots and Members that are not contributors to the site but only here for trolling and such. The site that I "

Sorry if I'm dense, but I can't quite figure out what is meant in the context of this forum by "troll" or "trolling".
I know what trolling is as a method of fishing. Perhaps (not being a fisherman myself) trollers are looked down on by fly fishermen as depending more on luck than skill? Don't see how that applies to GJ.
I also know about the mythical manlike creature that lives under bridges and charges a toll under threat of hideous consequences to those who would cross. Again, relevance?

A list of banned members - probably not a great idea, but I for one am always keenly curious to know why when I read of someone being banned... if only to avoid their errors. Perhaps examples of bannable behavior, edited to disguise the members involved?
I do enjoy the Garage Journal and even find it useful.

I don't really see the point of a banned list - what difference does it make if a person is banned, or they were never a member in the first place?

I've noticed that some people who've been banned, stay on the member list, sometimes for months, before they finaly disappear without trace. Is there a set time for this to happen, or is it just down to the occasional random clear out?

^^^ I know. I'm asking if you can view your own infractions. I'm thinking you should be able to. Otherwise you might not know you have any and what you should avoid doing in the future.

I got banned from a another forum one time...They said that I had multiple accouts, which I did not... They said my IP address was "similar." I did have an aircard on my old computer which might have been the problem...I read about a few others who had the same problem with that particular forum...

Click on your user name in the top right where it says "Welcome USER NAME"

Then click on the "INFRACTIONS" tab and you can view your infractions history.

Would show as an infraction and you have none so you have not been banned here. Like Bull said it should show in your history.

I was banned for 7 days, it was lifted on july 18th at 5pm.

When i would come to the site i got a message saying i was banned, gave the reason and the date and time it would be lifted. Its all i could see when i would come here is that message.

Thanks KPSquared. I have the other tabs shown in your post but not the Infractions one. I'll take that as a good thing ... for now. I'm sure my turn will come.
