that's your prerogative to not ask, and your money to burn, but I dont see any difference in snap-on/mac/any salesman based store than car stealerships, they have a product with a profit margin, if you can get a bit off,you should. saving $ can affect my ability to keep my hobbies going, I'm not poor but I dont believe in giving it away. I have gotten deals at best buy when you buy 2-3 things (one has to be big) like a TV, TIVO, and DVR, you can usually get free cables or $$ off, why wouldn't you?
if you were a snap-on guy and always refused to make a deal, I'd wait for the next truck in most cases. I buy steel regularly, steel costs what it costs, but I still get a discount for being a regular customer, and I didn't have to ask. regular price is for the guy who only buys one thing a month, he doesn't keep you coming back or your family fed, the guy who spends 1/5th of his wages there regularly deserves a better price point, thats called good sense, because if you wont, he might find someone who will.
