Has anyone been able to negotiate/bargain the price of a new tool with your Snap-on driver?

I've dropped over five grand in the last year with Snappy. I don't have to negotiate, he offers.

Yes, even without cash, but my items were non Snap On items that he carries.

I always get deals with my Mac guy every Monday. Got all these for $360.

Air chisel is $23X.** in monthly flyer
AC gauges are $17X.** in flyer
Long chisel was $3X.**
And pulley tool was $10X.**

That's just over $530.00, there is always negotiating room.

That Mac Air Hammer set is nice! I have one too, use the heck out of it.

What I noticed from Snap On or Mac or Cornwell is that, if you purchased a few thousands dollars from them before, they'll go down on the price just a tad bit.

When my Snap On or Mac or Cornwell comes by, they always asked how your day is going, how's business and so forth. They don't just come by and grab your money and leave. My guys comes by and stick around and see what I've got going on. They asked me if there's anything I need or anything broken. At times, my Snap On guy will even let me try out a tool whether it's a unique steering wheel puller or a air impact gun without even purchasing it.

Anytime I asked for pocket screw drivers, he always asked me how many do I need. I always ask for 3-5 monthly. Offer to pay for it, but he insist on giving it away.

Always ask for a better price/discount/terms. No matter what item or service. I ask for stuff all the time. I've gotten truly amazing deals on all sorts of things from the most unlikely vendors/service providers. If you don't ask, you don't get. Try asking every time you open your wallet for a discount for the next thirty days. You will be amazed at the deals you'll get.

I dont bother asking for deals. Me and my snap on guy talked about it once and i told him yhe only time i would ever haggle on pricing id for a tool box/roll cart. Personally i think he appreciates it. I know if i had that job i wouldnt want guys haggling me all the time.

that's your prerogative to not ask, and your money to burn, but I dont see any difference in snap-on/mac/any salesman based store than car stealerships, they have a product with a profit margin, if you can get a bit off,you should. saving $ can affect my ability to keep my hobbies going, I'm not poor but I dont believe in giving it away. I have gotten deals at best buy when you buy 2-3 things (one has to be big) like a TV, TIVO, and DVR, you can usually get free cables or $$ off, why wouldn't you?

if you were a snap-on guy and always refused to make a deal, I'd wait for the next truck in most cases. I buy steel regularly, steel costs what it costs, but I still get a discount for being a regular customer, and I didn't have to ask. regular price is for the guy who only buys one thing a month, he doesn't keep you coming back or your family fed, the guy who spends 1/5th of his wages there regularly deserves a better price point, thats called good sense, because if you wont, he might find someone who will.

You can't compare a tool truck to any other store unless you pay cash at both places.

Thats the awesome part about my steel supplier, the price goes down even more usually, or he just rounds, that was 45.55, why don't just give me 40 and we will call it good.

really? so your saying its not a business with a profit margin and a salesman? the difference is he comes to you? if your saying because its a business involving credit and delivery, then I would say the snapon man is backwards, auto parts stores offer lines of credit as well as delivery for business's but wait, they STILL PAY LESS than walkin/irregular customers.

maybe they have truck credit, he floats you, he can float you because he makes money on everyone, and a good bit, not a new idea, this is what grocery stores used to do, have a store credit so when you had money you paid, when you dont you borrow, just a different version of an old way. if you see yourself paying full price so the snapon guy can afford the guy who walks away from his debt, good on you, that risk was his, not my responsibility. I dont need to buy him 3 wrenches (his cost) for every one that I buy in case the guy next to me doesn't pay, I am perfectly ok asking to only buy 2.

fwiw, I do pay cash, but the fact I do doesn't change that asking for less is reasonable and beneficial to the buyer.
