Good afternoon all..its been quite a while, but GJ has been an amazing resource over the years...heres my latest project...

as you may recall, i did Avionics on Marine F4-J's as a child, twisted wrenches on German stuff as a dealer tech and retired as a Xerox Sales manager after 35 years in 2012.. i like well built technical things!
So...when i was younger i had more time that money, but now things have flip flopped a bit...

I'm planning on downsizing our home..she's ok with it..

Here's my idea... with 2 Rotary lifts and a fat German rocket to play with ...Oh its a 2011 SL63

I'm all about used equipment i.e lifts, but I'm looking for other ideas ideas from the collective..I don't need a full blown auto shop..just a basic oil change, maintenance type shop on well taken care of specimens..
I don't like to work on nasty, dirty neglected junk...ok, I'm a bit of a prima donna.
I'm in the very early stages of design and selection of the shop/home.

Believe it or not, I'd like to offer back to Veterans and women through a trade school arrangement or such, some hands-on tech time to learn basic auto maintenance tips and tricks...there are too many rip off, so called mechanics around today..yes, i believe we live in a different time....

My only daughter has picked up some amazing auto maintenance skills from the ole man and i'd like to expand that out a bit...here are a couple of pictures of the barndominum and the German fat rocket...comments please...

thanks again waltinbatonrouge

I'm purdy sure it was a 6 cylinder.....I bought it last May....already had an Olds 307 w/ Rochester 4 barrel carb, bored .060" over,
roller rockers, TH350 auto. ******, all leather interior, Mustang II front suspension (which is rack & pinion pwr steering and
power disc brakes), ALL steel body, a compact retro a/c & heating unit, tilt steer. wheel, Rocket racing wheels, true dual exhaust,
Pontiac rear end....basically a true show car.
It IS presently 4 sale....doesn't need a thing...just really want a true SS Nova!

Novas are great. SS Novas are, of course, even greater! Good luck with your quest.

Sounds like you want a barndo that will have living quarters on one end, a 'display' garage portion in the middle and a partitioned workshop space at the opposite end.

hi rayra...the display portion maybe to keep a a personal car out of the weather, but mostly just living and workshop...im deciding whether i really need the 80 ft version in my pic or a 60 footer...walt

Since you're in Baton Rouge, you may want to keep the 80 and have an open 20 foot area between the two sides. It would allow a "carport/outdoor cooking, gathering area" for crawfish boils and eliminate the need for a fire break between your garage and house. I just finished a 60x100 and after having to do the fire break, wish I would have thought of it. A little more in the steel building price but probably not much. Oh and forgot Geaux Tigers, I grew up there.
