Baseboard options

On my recently installed (half complete) VCT floor, I am considering baseboard options.

One of my concerns is moisture, either from rain, snow, or the occasional mopping of the floor.

Initially I thought of the vinyl base. I also thought that I could use pressure treated wood (1" x 4" for example) and paint it, caulk the edge of it to the floor. I suppose that I also could run a router along the top of the p/t lumber.

The p/t wood would be cheaper, but I'd need to dry it then paint it.
Vinyl base would be okay, but it is not really sealed to the floor. It just kind of sits there.

I ruled out MDF and f/j pine.
Any other thoughts?

How about soemthing like a Trex deck board? Rip the bottom flat on a table saw, and rout whatever edge detail you want on the top. I think this stuff can be painted, too, but not sure. It certainly doesn't absorb much moisture, if any.

yeah, I glanced at that stuff at the HD today. I didn't think about ripping it down, though. I'll relook tomorrow

You could run a heavy bead of caulk behind the rubber cove before you put it into place, then the caulk will seal the cove to floor from underneath.

What about some of the vinyl 1x trim that they use around windows and garage doors on exterior house trim or some Hardi plank painted out. My house garage had 1x pine boards stained and poly'd and when I removed it 7 years later I didn't have any water damage to it. I regularly wash my garage out and have snow and slush falling off in the winter time

I used 4" trim meant for outside use. It's a composite wood product similar to mdf. It has a rough wood grain texture. Cost was about .30/foot. Calked and painted it looks good.
