Basement floor

I tried to search for this topic in the treads and couldnt find anything. i know this is garage forms not basements but i want to use the same flooring. I was going to tile it but i **** at getting all the tiles to line up perfect, so i was thinking of doing my basement floors with the epoxy-coat but wasn't sure if there was anything better to use or if anyone else has done this. it seems easy enough to do comparied to laying tile. . Any help on what type would work best or pics of one done would be great, thanks for your time, Bubba

I have coated basements before. You need to check for moisture coming through the slab.
Tape a piece of plastic 18"x18" on the floor and let it sit for 72 hours. If its wet underneath you need to address those issues before you coat.

BTW: The make plastic spacers so your grout lines come out straight

I do basements and very successfully. First I use a special primer for moiser sensitive concrete. I havent had a failure in 3 years doing basements. Maybe you should contact a pro in your area.

We offer a bunch of modular flooring products are are designed for the basement. We have a Modular Carpet Tile, Oak, Marble, Teak, etc laminate tiles as well. They are all interlocking suspended modules, so moisture is not an issue. Also, there are no glues, primers or prep ( other than moving furniture and a gppd sweeping).. Good luck

I would look into acid staining of your basement. You can cut lines in it to give the look of tile and either let the stain bleed into cuts or grout the cute in a different color to give it an even more tile look. Acid staining is great in case your basement might flood as it is easy to clean if it gets wet compared to carpet and if you have allergies there is no dust kept in it like carpet keeps in.

When I do basement floors, not only do I use primer specifically for moister sensitive concrete but also base coat it and top coat it with added Bio pruf, an antimicrobial and antibacterial treatment. Since the basement is prone to mold and bacteria, it makes sense. Its the same formula used in commercial kitchens and bathrooms. The look is the same but it just has those extra special properties.

Im almost positive you will not find this formula in a DYI kit.

Acid staining is not super complex. If you are going to do it yourself I would suggest buying a water based stain. It is easier to work with and I actually am doing more water based stains as they are more earth friendly and more and more people are into green building. I am researching a soy based product for staining now. If you want to send me a private message I can give you some ideasof colors and send some pics of it from before and after.
