Battery operated continuity tester

I am interested in locating a quality circuit tester to be used for automotive applications. The type I need is battery powered (not for live circuits)I also prefer an LED and a flexible rubber cord, not a cheap stiff wire.
Does anyone have any experience with a unit like I have described?

there is that glorified ,,,, power probe maybe ? if you are into those stuff... I have the PP3 sets.. but seldom used it since the multimeter is more handy and next to me.

I have a test light without battery, digital multi meter and a power probe. What is the advantage of having the battery powered test light, is it just in form factor and ability to do continuity?

You need the battery for continuity checks.

Otherwise, how would you power the light bulb?

Maybe but he asked about a battery powered continuity tester ? Same thing as a DVOM on the ohms scale. The DVOM will also tell you if there is resistance.

So what is the difference between that and using a DMM on the ohms range ??

It does put a slight load on the wiring/connections to light the 1.5v lamp that a digital ohm
meter will not but there is no substitute for the actual load.
In other words a DMM will actually show a connection on corroded/wet connections that will disappear when a load is applied to them.

These can be handy sometimes. A little less "clunky" than a meter if all you need is a quick continuity check. It's nice when working in a dark, confined area, under a dash or something.

There's one like mine on ebay right now (no affiliation) pretty cheap.
