Battery post studs? Good deep cycle brands?

Need to replace the deep cycle battery in my RV. I see the existing battery has studs that appear to be a threaded rod that then gets a nut. I saw that they had an allen socket so thought it would be good to keep the studs in case I needed them with the new battery. I tried to get them out but with lots of torque it looked like it was going to strip out the allen socket with more torque. Is this something I need to get out or do most batteries come with the studs already there? Looks like the Duracell battery I am looking at has studs so perhaps I don't need to worry about it.

Also wondering about good brands. The one I am looking at only has 18 month warranty and I see some bad reviews of it failing. Could be due to how the battery was treated - run until dead, etc - but still concerning.

Not sure about the studs or specific application, but I have always had good luck with Trojan batteries for my RV.

Many deep cycle batteries come with studs.
If you want to remove them from your old battery, double nut them. You can apply more torque than with an allen wrench.

I didn't pull the studs. The new battery had different size studs (US vs. metric?) and came with matching nuts.

Probably Group 31 stud batteries. were the old ones 3/8 USS thread?

I think the type of stud/terminal/connector that is standard to the battery has to do with the battery group size number
unless the battery is going into recycling I don't think I would try to remove the stud or terminal

In my experience, I have found the larger diameter post to be Positive and the Smaller one Negative, the threaded connections on my Chevrolet van are tapped for 3/8-16.

Trojan deep cycle batteries are EXCELLENT ! If you have the room 2 - 6V golf cart batteries work well. They sell battery top post to stud adapters for only a few dollars.

liFePO4 are getting cheaper every day. The biggest issue is they require a different battery charger in order to get to 100% "state of charge".
