Hi guys,
I'm finally getting the basement set up in the house I bought a few months ago. There's a door at the top of the stairs and most of the staircase is enclosed (except the last few stairs). Due to the location of my desk and TV, I quickly learned that it was easy for the wife or kids to come down the stairs and me not hear them, making it a 'startling' discovery.
To alleviate this, I want to install a battery powered remote switch on the door (like a pantry light switch) that will remotely turn a small light when the door opens and off when it closes to let me know when somebody is heading down. I'd like to keep from banging my heart off the rev limiter everytime somebody says "hey" behind me.
The actual light doesn't need to be battery powered, but the switch at the door does. Any ideas???
