I can't remember how long ago I got my toolbox but it must be almost 28 years ago. I got the roller a couple years later after dreaming about it for quite a while. I would tell my wife of then that I REALLY wanted a Beach roller box for my upper. Christmas was awesome that year. I was so pumped.:3gears: All of the stickers are from the era and a little later. I don't have the heart to remove them.

They are still in great shape but the locks for keeping the drawers from sliding out don't always work. I have likely bent them back a few too many times. I would also like to have bearing slides since the older non-bearing sliders can be a little slow feeling. Any body ever converted one?

So I was thinking, what about seeing if you could get Northern tools as a vendor. They do offer high quality items like USA made Wilton, Columbian and Yost vises to name a few. Then you would get a lot of advertising from their website and catalog, maybe even in store. Also their sister company Great Plains which is aimed at business. 26" boxes are still very popular in the industrial market.

Congratulations on reviving a quality product. I am hoping for much success in marketing the boxes. Smiths Falls has taken a &%&* kicking in the last few years. I hope your initiatives mark a turning point in the towns bad luck with loosing its manufacturing base.

I have two of those twelve drawer uppers, and would suggest some changes, if they were reproduced.

>That deep drawer on the LHS could be changed to 2 or 3 drawers.....have found that one deep one just fills up with junk.

>Those lower three could be divided into six individual drawers....to better use the space.

I am not a big fan of any box having full width drawers as they tend to drag on the one below, when loaded up. A big X-bead rolled (up) in the floor might help with that flexing.

PS: Just note...PAL has those side handles in surplus for $2 each, if you need any.

Great thread! My contribution is the first box I bought with my own money, probably back in the early 80's.

Really pleased to see Beach resurrected!

I've now got pretty well one of everything they made that was ever available in the UK - I'd love one of the old 42" wide set ups and a machinists box or two but I don't think they were ever imported. If new ones are ever available over here I'd seriously consider upgrading.

Just a thought - would there be a market in accessories and spares for existing boxes? As someone else has mentioned, an original Beach design with roller slides would be unbeatable!

Hi everyone! WOW, these photos are amazing! Thanks so much for all of the awesome shots. We're all taking a walk down memory lane here at Beach - and drawing some inspiration too :)

Our team is currently in the process of drawing up a classic-style box because we heard from practically all of you that you'd like a classic look. So thank you everyone for your input, and keep an eye on our website (or Facebook page) as we roll out new designs. For now though we're focusing on getting the basics out, so a more classic box might be a few months down the road.

I'll try to answer some of the more specific questions as well:

D350RDV - Hey Anthony! Wow, I didn't know we had fans all the way in the UK! We do offer help with replacement parts, but it depends on your model of course. If you're looking for something specific, you can fire off an email to Landon, at [email protected] and we'll see what we can do. (He's away until Dec. 29th, though :))

Tronyadorable - Pricing wise, you can contact our sales team at (866) 808-3462, or visit our website contact page here and find your region :)

HSURDDY - Glad you like them! For distributors in Western Canada, please get in touch with our sales team at (866) 808-3462, or visit our website contact page here and find your region :)

mikester - I'll do some research for you about the Husky box and let you know what I dig up!

danv - Thank you! We're really glad that we can support jobs in Smiths Falls because you're right, the town has lost quite a few manufacturing-based jobs in recent years as big companies have moved out.

bobcatdan - Thanks for the tips on U.S. distributors. We'll forward that along!

longlivepunk - Wow, impressive collection! Love the variety. And I haven't forgotten about my promise to post some pictures of the boxes being made! Just have to wait for a good time in the production run :)

carcajou, ShadowRulez - Thanks for the photos and links, Ray and Jerry! Love those old catalogues!

NASTYZEN, StupidHippie, Gregg33, alinc100, lilredex, Techie1961, PCO6, jkeller - Thanks for the photos and the support!

I'll keep an eye out here for any more of your questions, and I'll be posting some shop pics of the boxes being made asap!

Hey again GJ,

I'm back to answer a few more lingering questions, and post some shop photos like I promised! The photos are all attached to this thread :) I've included some of our facilities, and some of the Beach boxes in various stages of production. Captions - Photos 1 & 2 are some of the boxes in progress, photo 3 is of the boxes heading into the powder paint booth, photo 4 is the die sets used for the boxes, photo 5 is our metal stamping presses, and photos 6 & 7 are our MIG welding room.

lilredex & D350RDV - Thanks for the info on the Beach exports to the U.K. We can't can’t say for sure, but like the posters on that thread, we would agree that Beach Industries likely produced those boxes for Auto Pro with Auto Pro branding on them. But again, I don’t know for certain.

mikester - We looked into the origins of your Husky box, and learned that they were made by here by Stanley Tools and sold at Home Depot. That would have been anywhere between 1987 and 2008, when Stanley operated the plant.

We also now have all of our boxes manufactured and available! It took us a bit of time to build up our inventory, but we can now offer all of our models, plus bases and accessories :) Check out the catalogue at www.beachtoolboxes.ca/catalogue to see them all. We're also on Facebook, at www.facebook.com/beachtoolboxes, so you can head there for more updates.

Thanks again for the support!

You guys don't think the boxes in the catalog already look pretty retro?

Those look great to me.

Thanks for the pictures BeachToolbox. It is a wonderful thing to see things in the manufacturing process. Your toolbox line looks great and I hope to see one in person soon.

Very cool, love the looks of these. Gotta love a nice drop-front top chest though! Great idea for the heavy duty frames for those who want to add a side cabinet or 2. You see guys do this all the time. Here's my Father in laws Beach box, which I have the twin of! Mine is branded Sears though.

Odd that I came across this thread after posting some pics in the Vintage toolbox thread.
I bought this Beach box and sold it to a co-worker right out of my truck. If I had it to do over again I'd have kept it and figured out the place to put it later.

Damn I didn't know they even made a box like that...now I need one.

Dear Beach,

I have three Beach made Gray tools pro boxes. I'm mulling over buying another side box for my roller cabinet.

Could you consider offering a better drawer slide that allows the drawers to be extended fully. I am constantly annoyed that the drawers remain in the cabinet by about two inches.

Also, consider offering some deeper boxes. Most serious wrenchers like boxes that offer greater drawer depth.

Here is one you do not see that often, in good shape. Asking $450.

If you are around Windsor way..

For that price I would not think twice, and spend a few more bucks on it to bring it back to its glory days.

I'd love to have a look at these new Beach toolboxes in person. I spoke with both the local B&M tool dealers and neither were aware of the new Beach. One said they can't order anything not approved by head office, the other seemed a bit interested and looked up Beach's website while I was there, but said he couldn't just bring in just one box. They both tried to sell me a floor model of another brand they had in their store.

So, I call the distributor myself, and ask where I can look at one of their roller cabinets. I'm told they will contact me with information. It's now more than two weeks later, and no reply.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your comments, we love reading them and seeing your awesome photos!

jvitez - I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble getting a hold of a box. I just sent you a message - hopefully we can get everything worked out! Feel free to send me an email, [email protected], or call Hanna at 613-284-2605 and we'll figure out the details.

Bull, Ryanedoyle, Zable9 - Thank you!

G-Ram - Nice box! Funny that you and your father in law have the same one!

rmsg0040 - We're working on the handboxes as we speak! The first 20" is ready to be made as soon as our other runs of boxes are finished. And I've forwarded along the drop front idea, so our engineers are certainly thinking it over!

npp - would love to see pictures if you get them!

jptbay - Thanks for the input. To fix the drawer extension problem, we would suggest that in the future you consider purchasing a box with roller bearing slides. They are able to extend all the way and should limit your frustration. The boxes you have now likely have friction slides and are set up that way for structural support reasons. As far as a deeper box goes - we have made a 24" deep box in the past so we can see ourselves being able to make one. We're not quite ready to have it full-time in our product line just yet though, but you could possibly special order one. Feel free to email me [email protected] if you want me to look into it :)

As far as news from us goes, we've been trying some new things, and decided to make a few how-to videos with tips for some common Beach maintenance problems. Not sure if they'll apply to all of the classic and vintage boxes here, but we'd love to hear what you think, if you think they're helpful at all, and if we should make more:

Keep posting your questions here, or feel free to get in touch by email or phone. We're always happy to answer your questions about your boxes or our new stuff. Thanks again for the support, everyone!

Thank you Hanna for the contact and interest.

But when I read the information you gave jptbay, my eyes bugged out and I broke into a big grin: a brand new Canadian made Beach 24" deep roller cabinet/top chest combo with full extension slides? Sold!

If you can make this in a 40" to 56" unit you'll be bang-on perfect for the needs of many auto techs/serious home hobbyists, and you'll seriously increase the size your target market.

You need to get a current model roller cabinet and some hand boxes sitting on the floor of as many B&M tool stores as you can. The quality, appearance, and name will sell itself.

Hey guys,

I just wanted to check in and say hi!

• We were going through some old Beach catalogues this week and decided to post a few on Facebook, so we thought you might want to see. We've got two albums up so far, which you can check out here: https://www.facebook.com/beachtoolboxes/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums

• I also noticed that a few of you have a pretty similar layout as some of the photos - especially the B87/B89 roller cab with top chests. (I'm looking at you, PC06)

Here's a very similar photo on the front of one of the catalogues:
https://www.facebook.com/beachtoolb...0.1429622261./607927272676460/?type=3&theaterhttps://scontent-ord.**.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/s720x720/11079618_607927272676460_1017143678731425254_n.jpg?oh=3f1640e33db637baf217fe67ab9f3543&oe=55A8253A

• And here's one for you, longlivepunk: A model B418 in the old catalogue:
https://www.facebook.com/beachtoolb...0.1429103245./610369389098915/?type=3&theater

• We also have some news on the G.H. Metals side - we're hiring an Ontario-based salesperson to help us expand. If you know someone who might be interested or in need of a job, we'd love to hear from them! All the details and job description are at www.ghmetals.com/jobs.

Can't believe I hadn't seen this thread, been on the lookout for an old Beach stack forever, still on the hunt... Glad to see new ones on the market.

Here's a B213 I just picked up at a yard sale on the weekend, any ideas how old it might be? Aside from a few spots of paint and of some sort of grease I still need to address, it's damn near mint.

And this one is one of my Grandfathers old boxes. I think it may be a Beach, or Beach made back in the day, any ideas? It has blue paint under the red repaint.
View media item 22817View media item 22819
It's in rough shape, the hasp clearly isn't original and neither are the buckles. The piano hinge on the front cover is also in horrible shape. Unfortunately I never really got around to asking him about this box. I think he may have had it for quite a long time, but I'm not sure.

My grandfather saved the two blue carry boxes on the left from the dumpster at the paper mill he worked at, they're in rough shape but there's hope still.

I am relieved to make this post...I was about to give up on finding a drop top box made in this area with a good level of quality. I had a conversation with Landon Hicks at Beach today and he explained that they should have to boxes ready by years end. One is smaller based on the B 106 and the other is larger close to the B 109...what good news!!! It would be great if a distributor in the states would form a relationship with Beach and help us with shipping. Anyone interested should pay attention to there website...I am!!:)

...

Keep in mind that both Sears and Canadian Tire sold Beach boxes with their own brands on them (Craftsman & Mastercraft). If you don't mind that the drawers are black on Craftsman and the non Beach emblem, they're otherwise the same boxes.
