Right. That’s what I thought but had seen some kind of post that they were back. I may have mistaken the posts meaning. Thanks for the reply.

That was listed before, I didn't say anything 'cause I thought it was too much $$, at least for me.

I have this 1970's beach model 201 "add on" machinist chest I am thinking about selling. These appear to be quite rare nowadays. Any idea what it would be worth to a avid collector? I've admired it for years but it might be time for her to find a new admirer.

I see these pop up on Kijiji in Canada with somewhat regularity. Not nearly as common as the traditional tool chests, but not a unicorn either.

In perfect condition, they seem to be listed around $200-300.

In typical condition, like this one, I think you'd be lucky to get $100. That's just based on what I'm seeing in my area.

It's a pretty nice box. I'd love to have it myself, but I already have six Beach boxes!

Very helpful insight old_smokey. Thank you, it was a gift from a family friend long ago. I couldn't find any of the Beach machinist's chests currently on the market but good to know they are somewhat available from time to time. I'm torn between parting this one now or to put time into a full restoration of it & adding another model to it. If you know someone or to anyone else reading this has more of these different machinist chest models available for sale I might be interested.

LWB those are in great shape! I can see why they are your favourite beach boxes. I'll have to keep my eyes open for ones like that.

Here are a few pictures of a Beach toolbox stacked on Craftsman. Anyone know where I can buy a key for the Beach? #1416.

I have the reverse setup with the Craftsman version of the middle box and top box jut the one with another row of drawers sitting on a beach or Mastercraft bottom.

Don't know on keys, new locks are cheap.

I just faced this issue with a 1974 Craftsman Box , I got the cylinder out and took it to a local locksmith. Stopped back the next day and they made 2 keys to fit the lock $18.

I am in Canada and use a Beach top and bottom professionally at work and I have an old Mac (made by Beach) at home.

I would consider these boxes “medium duty”.

I notice a lot of these boxes made by Beach crack at the corners. This is why I classify them as medium duty.

I’ve lubed the friction slides with dry graphite and they slide excellent but i’d really like to get a box with bb slides one day. I will most likely end up with Snapon master series one day, but for now these will suffice.

I agree with you. They're nice and have that classic look but there are better boxes out there.

Yep. To this day, Snapon makes the best boxes. The old timers at my job are still rolling around their Snapon boxes from the 70’s. The only box that can compete is from Canada made by Rousseau.

Lista and vidmars are just as good if not better than rousseau, and I would dare say better than Snapon as well in any metric except style.

Stor-loc builds a MM box that has the drawer chassis like lista/vidmar but some custom frame to make them like a large snapon.
