Looking to power a Nest thermostat. I popped open my heater and see the C wire isn't actually connected on the back. I do need a green G wire connected which I assume is ground. Wondering if I can add a C wire though to this unit. I am having a hard time finding the model number though so will include pictures

I just looked, all I did was was run a wire from the negative post on the 24v transformer. So I have the white wire on the w-1 post a red wire on the R post and then I used the green wire to run to the C on the thermostat. I have a Honeywell wifi thermostat and its been like that for 8 years, works great, Here is a pic of the connection on the outside of the heater. I don't ever have a reason to run the fan alone on a hanging heater so i did not connect the G terminal, only the red, white and green. Just pull the side cover off and locate the transformer, then run a wire from the negative side of it out the back and to your thermostat wire. Let me know if you need anything else or more clarification.

Yeah mine has the green G hooked up already as well but I don't have a reason to run the fan either. I will look and see how that green wire is hooked up currently and see if I can just use that one. Sounds like though I may need to move it to the negative post on the 24v transformer. Thank you for taking the time to explain and send a picture. Greatly appreciated.
Electricity doesn't care what color the wire is. Move the G wire to the C terminal and the 24V common on the transformer.

Here is a standard 24v transformer, yours may look a little different, it will have a pair of 120v wires and a pair of low voltage wires. You want to connect to the negative side of the low voltage. I will pull the end panel off mine and get a pic for you later.

Your transformer is at the top, however, it looks like I choose to connect to the "C" terminal on the board. Here is a pic, you can see the the green wire going through the back vent, I am going to change that today, I'm guessing 8 years ago I was just testing it and never got back to it. Probably will drill a small hole then use a small strain relief.

Just a flat spade female connector, available at any hardware store. If you use those words to search it will come up for you, they have variety packs with several sizes.
This is the one I used but I see the link is a 100 pack, most hardware stores would probably have them in a 5 pack.
