Looking to power a Nest thermostat. I popped open my heater and see the C wire isn't actually connected on the back. I do need a green G wire connected which I assume is ground. Wondering if I can add a C wire though to this unit. I am having a hard time finding the model number though so will include pictures

Any wiring diagram?

Most of this shop heaters do not have an obvious place to hook up a common wire. You will need the wiring diagram and we might be able to point it out.

Your pictures are probably too large.

We need a model number or a wiring diagram.

Do you know where I can find a model number? I have looked all over the outside of the unit and can't find one. Will try to find one inside the unit tomorrow.

Your G wire is likely for the fan, to allow for the fan to circulate air without kicking on the heat.

I assume you could connect a spade terminal to the terminal marked "C" on your image.

Dumb question, Assume I can pick up these spade terminal cables/connectors at my local hardware store, maybe Menards or Ace Hardware?

Yes, but you'll probably want to double check you have ~24VAC between the R and the C terminals before you go too far.

I just looked, all I did was was run a wire from the negative post on the 24v transformer. So I have the white wire on the w-1 post a red wire on the R post and then I used the green wire to run to the C on the thermostat. I have a Honeywell wifi thermostat and its been like that for 8 years, works great, Here is a pic of the connection on the outside of the heater. I don't ever have a reason to run the fan alone on a hanging heater so i did not connect the G terminal, only the red, white and green. Just pull the side cover off and locate the transformer, then run a wire from the negative side of it out the back and to your thermostat wire. Let me know if you need anything else or more clarification.

Yeah mine has the green G hooked up already as well but I don't have a reason to run the fan either. I will look and see how that green wire is hooked up currently and see if I can just use that one. Sounds like though I may need to move it to the negative post on the 24v transformer. Thank you for taking the time to explain and send a picture. Greatly appreciated.

Your transformer is at the top, however, it looks like I choose to connect to the "C" terminal on the board. Here is a pic, you can see the the green wire going through the back vent, I am going to change that today, I'm guessing 8 years ago I was just testing it and never got back to it. Probably will drill a small hole then use a small strain relief.

What kind of connectors did you use to hook up the "C" on the board to your thermostat? I haven't seen that before.
