Well I looked at all the Ebay deals and decided that by the time I pay shipping+handling etc it would be about the same price as buying the Beacon-Morris heater from Menards, plus I'd have to wait for it to get shipped to me. So I just went ahead with the Menards unit.
I laid out the bracket positions at a 45 degree angle and hung them from two pieces of 2x4 laying across the ceiling joists with four 3/8" carriage bolts.
I fired it up just to test it out. Works pretty good. Everyone has told me that these things were pretty noisy, but I couldn't be happier with the way it sounds. It's about 10 times quieter than the torpedo heater I was using before.
